Why am I sat crying in my gaming chair - despite ED being the greatest game

You have my sympathy, my envy, and my appreciation.

As time moves on there are bound to be cheap alternatives for punters like me who can see the obvious benefits to a chair like this. Establishing the Cobra Engine as something that supports such devices could well reap rewards in the future.

One question for you that you may not be able to answer seeing as you're the sort of bloke who whips along on motorbikes at over 200mph... Does the chair help sort out the queasiness experienced when out on a virtual moon in an SVR?

now I have the space, I may have to attempt to build one of these, that would just take the game to the absolute next level.

Have a word with Dyson or the bloke from G-Tech or Mr Hoover I think they could help with your carpet

You have my cushion

Wow, very jealous. That is some setup! I'm hoping that FD weren't aware of your requirements each patch and that they can help your development when they know what changes affect you. Definitely the future of gaming :D

OP, you need to choose your thread titles better. I saw the title, and clicked on it thinking "Here we go, another complaint thread... Wonder how this one's going...". And it turns out that your request is actually entirely reasonable, and the work you've put in to your set-up very impressive.

I've looked into similar set-ups, and have bought various items to be able to build one (already have a chair and most of the electronics, all I'd need is the hydraulics) - but so far haven't got round to it. I fully support your request to have ship movement as part of the API.

As others have pointed out, a better place for this request would be in the Suggestions and/or Support forum. If you leave a trail here, I'm sure that many of us would be happy to post our support on such a thread in case that will give FD more motivation to help. :)

And thanks for pointing me to XSimulator. I can see that I am going to be wasting far too much time there now. :D

I am fully supported it.

I don`t have so impressive setup, but I do own Gametrix KW-908 jetseat, they work great in DCS. I would love to have same support in Elite.

They and their team work night and day to develop systems more advanced than most will ever understand, to get added enjoyment to a game they love, and hope to develop that technology to bring it to the masses, and of all things....

You focus on the carpet...

I....I got nothing...I'm just....disappointed...

Pretty typical for this one. Pretty much the king of cringeworthy posts and videos. Glad you saved it for all eternity since he tried to delete it.

This has probably been said, but I'd actually follow up with the support team to see if there's a contact point you can email to directly request API access and so on. The Devs can't be everywhere, so maybe reach out in a more official manner via the support team, lest they miss it here.

Definitely wouldn't recommend breaching the EULA or TOS to achieve this tho, it'd make it much much harder to get more official access imho.

Also looks like quite the ride. Nice. [up]

The movement and what you see (incl. in VR) work seamlessly together. Brain and stomach are very happy (just like riding my bikes in RL).

If we can get FD to support us, you'd be able to build one yourself (although there are some commercially available now - like pagnian v2). If positional data ever becomes available from ED than there are bound to be developments in the marketplace to make motion seats more widely available.

Thanks Crank,
I'm in talks with my sim forum friends with a view to putting our request in the best thread(s). Just need to pin down exactly what would be needed from an api to allow us to patch to our motion control s/w - with the minimum requirement on the part of FD (we know they are very busy with many other things on the go).
