Why are people complaining about DLC

If they release an expansion pack it will cost at least twice as much as a smaller dlc like the Halloween one. So let's say this expansion pack does not really have anything I would want but there is a ride or theme that I would like...well I have to pay full price for it now and use only 10% of what's in that pack vs a dlc that gives me exactly what I want for much cheaper. The Halloween dlc is certainly not silly and certainly not small with the 100+ of pieces in it.

How exactly are you going to replace an dlc item with a generic item, that does not even make any sense...it would look completely messed up and not even usable anyway.

Lastly that's your opinion that the base game is not finished. The only people who can say it is or not is frontier themselves so stop sayings things that you have no idea is true or not.

It is not just my opinion but many many others as well who have played the game for a very long time.

The workshop should not be penalised / forced into paying micro transactions just to see someones park, maybe there should be just a view mode only at minimum.

100+ pieces lol - looks like a lot doesn't but really is it and it is all down to perspective. These DLCs are expensive if you want to do micro transactions and cherry pick what you want further then maybe it should be you pay for one ride for 49p or 1 x spooky coffin for 15p and so on if you really want to be picky!

I like the way you think I have no IDEAS me thinks you best search the forums for input I have given on IDEAS!!!

We are talking about the BASE game as in fundamental mechanics not the game itself. Every game has ongoing development until they say they are no longer actively developing it.

Fundermental mechanics hmmm like coaster smoothness ayeeeeeee!!

Really and I am the one who does not know what he is talking about blah blah blah.

If you consider 100+ pieces "small" or not is subjective. I didn't consider the christmas update "big" and that was 100+ pieces. But It totally depends on what you compare it to.

You're right about not having to pay for things you don't like in bigger packs but then again smaller packs are more expensive. (They didn't have to be but generally that's how most companies do DLC.)

That's exactly what Frontier did. If it's not obvious to you from looking at the game, the term "ongoing development" or whatever they used could have been a clue. (And why would they keep working on it if they'd consider it done?)

Exactly, spot on.

None of the praise is blind. Everybody is looking at the same thing. They just have a different perspective than you.
To say that, is to say their praise is invalid. If the praise can be invalid, so can the complaints.

Blind might have been the wrong word, I mean that a lot of people praise the game just to praise the game. Sort of like rooting for a sports team, no matter how crappy they are. (Not saying Frontier is crappy, just giving an example of what I mean.) Or wholeheartedly backing a political party even though half of their platform is absolute garbage just because they're "your party". It's fanboyism, and it's making some people put blinders on and ignore the issues no matter how glaringly obvious they are.

I would pay more if the content was right, because larger add-ons are usually more worth it (like in RCT3). I prefer when an expansion is the same price as the main game and equal in content. I think I picked up the RCT3 triple pack with both expansions for a total of $45 back in the day

So let's say this expansion pack does not really have anything I would want but there is a ride or theme that I would like...well I have to pay full price for it now and use only 10% of what's in that pack vs a dlc that gives me exactly what I want for much cheaper. if they released a full expansion at $40 it would have to have a lot of content. Lets say Frontier releases a water park add-on soon, and lets say that add-on costs $20. Now add that $20 to the current DLC which costs a total of $23 for a total of $43 of DLC on top of the $45 for the base game. Now is the $43 DLC worth it right now, it depends on how big a water park DLC will be... hopefully they bundle all the DLC together for a better deal, because theres bigger games out there sold for $20

IMO I will not buy the licensed kits for several reasons. 1) the workshop has very few DLC blueprints (like 300) thats because its not very popular, and people who did buy it realize nobody will download their blueprints, this is not good for frontier or the community. I personally want frontier to make money, which is why I think the micro-licensed-DLCs were a bit lame. Even several popular youtube channels criticized the licensed DLC kits

2) theres not one single character in the licensed DLCs, not one entertainer or animatronic of DocBrown or the Munsters... thats lame. I might have actually bought the DLC if it had characters, but all I see are some signs and a silly car theme. What if all I wanted was the go-karts? or what if all I wanted is the non-licensed content like the window.
3) It would have been better to give us a complete "car kit" with a variety of vehicle types, including construction vehicles, cranes, bulldozers, etc. I mean I guess the workshop already has a lot of cars, but they still gave us a rather weak construction kit.
4) There was already a BttF park in the workshop before the DLC was released, so what is it that were actually paying for with these licenses? cuz it feels like advertising to me.

You mean like the one transparent window in the munsters kit?

I personally am not saying the base game is unfinished, I just think there are major things that need fixing. Hopefully the anniversary update it awesome, and I wish the Devs would announce something bigger soon. Theres so much missing from RCT3, theres the possibility of a Planet Safari, and I really want to see a carnival DLC with midway gamestalls and circus entertainers [happy] this game sure could get expensive

I can't remember seeing any of the die hard fans (master builders) even being here commenting and/or requesting things. Maybe I have missed those threads but where are the rant threads by Rudi, Silvarret, DeLadysigner etc.? Those are what I would call the most hardcore, die hard fans out there. But you never see them complain. I have also not seen very many angry requests for a Spooky package. Seems more like this came as a positive surprise to most people here (with the exception of a few vocal people who always criticizes everything, good or bad).

Are you serious? They are the most vocal critics of this game there is? If you follow any of their series on YouTube they are constantly talking about issues with the game and ways to improve it. Silv was even on a lengthy podcast specifically critiquing the game's many issues. They've also posted in here from time to time, but most of their complaints are done on YouTube, and are quite numerous and very spot-on. I follow about five PC series on YouTube and I'd say that pretty much every single one of them complain about something at least once in every episode. Whether it's about the path system, lack of small shapes, lack of custom textures on the art shapes, frame rate issues, scale issues, wall sets that are not complete, coaster smoothness and friction, guest behavior, etc etc. The really hard core players definitely have a LOT of complaints about the game, they still love the game, otherwise they wouldn't continue to play it, but they are very open about the issues it has and are not afraid to talk about it. Which is good, because that's how Frontier can improve. If everyone was just giving praise they would think everything was fine and wouldn't bother with any improvements. So it's a bit counterintuitive to be lambasting the people giving critique because they are the ones pushing for the game to get better.

They also talk to frontier privately as part of the coaster head club membership

That might be true, I don't know. But I do know that some don't even bother coming to these forums at all because they can't stand the fact that you can't say anything negative in these forums without having five people jump on you. So they stick to ShyGuy's World or Reddit for discussions.

I would assume so yes. Some don't even bother coming to these forums either because they can't stand the fact that you can't say anything negative in these forums without having five people jump on you. So they stick to ShyGuy's World or Reddit for discussions.

Here is where I politely disagree. The naysayers and the doom and gloomers present their arguments (for the most part) as stone hard facts and jump all over anyone who offers a differing opinion. They use terms like "Everyone says" or "it was told (or promised)" not "I think" or "I believe" or "in my opinion".

They claim to want to be fair, and it is their right to complain, but in my mind, it just sort of comes out like petulant entitled whining. Constructive criticism should sound like "I think X needs to be improved because then Y could occur." I hear a lot of the whining, but not a lot of supportive suggestions. But then, the supportive suggestions are shot down because "everyone" complains.

I'm the most vocal person here, I never use words like everyone, or it was promised, and I always say IMO

Its the people who get mad at those who complain that take things too far by throwing around words like free and the devs have to eat

all I want are some UI/QoL fixes (which hopefully are coming in the anniversary update YAY!) and I also wish the DLCs had better entertainers or more animatronics of the licensed characters instead of just static objects

just in my pov

Oh so you mean how it works currently.....[rolleyes]

The only thing you cant do if you dont have the dlc is using an item, you can still view parks but you obviously knew that because you have been playing for such a loooong time right.....[wacky]

Fundermental mechanics hmmm like coaster smoothness ayeeeeeee!!

Which they said they were looking into....

Management probably isnt going to change much, pathing probably isnt going to change drastically, coaster builder isnt going to change drastically, scenery building isnt going to change drastically. Those are the fundamentals, coaster smoothness is just a small part of one of them. There will always be minor changes but you wont see significant changes to the to them where we have to relearn how to use the tools.

And the yaysayers are just as bad, if not worse, in the opposite direction. I never say negative things without having constructive criticism behind it, or an explanation for my opinions, but I'm ALWAYS being hounded by the same people as soon as I say something. And they're not just disagreeing with me (which of course is perfectly fine), but they're saying that I shouldn't even state my opinion to begin with unless it's positive. It's absolutely ridiculous and it's making this community insanely toxic.

Edit: And BTW, this is how EVERY thread ends, every single one. Someone says something negative and the discussion shifts towards being about what that person said and whether it's ok to give criticism, etc. It never fails, ever. It's incredibly tiring. STOP trying to silence the critics, everyone has a right to state their opinion here, and they shouldn't be lambasted for it regardless of what it is.

Tbh ithas been like this for a long time on this forum. Not saying it's a bad thing but it kinda prevents having real critic discussions. I can understand that people that like the game want to defend it in every way possible but like you said it sometimes turns a bit into 'fanboyism'. Now I must admit I was like that too in the early days, but it's been 1.5 years since the alpha and there hasn't been much improvement gameplay-wise. Alot of people including me were probably always thinking that it would be just a matter of time before that improved but there hasn't been any significant changes/additions since then. Then this last DLC announcement kinda sparked a chain reaction of concern about the direction this game was heading to because alot of people felt forgotten about.

Let's just, carefully this time, hope November is more than just cosmetic. [yesnod]

I know it has been and it's sad that it hasn't changed. All we can do is stand up for ourselves, but it's getting pretty ridiculous at this point.

It's a personal decision to buy the DLC or not. If you can't access certain blueprints because you didn't buy it, well then that's your tough luck. There are lots of games that sell additional content for a fee, like the Trainz games, Railworks, etc.

your a member... you know theres private forums for you guys. Theres also videos on youtube where people have talked about things with Bo & Ed

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SgAXt4H4io

Oh I forgot all about coaster head club. The last time I heard about this was probably 1.5 years ago when I bought the early bird but I thought that was already alot for me back then.

I'm wondering if it's still being used as often or what they talk about there now [shocked]

This is about the fact that the licensed DLCs did not sell very well, based on the lack of workshop blueprints for the DLC, it seems obvious that the licensed DLCs were not popular. Even many popular youtube channels criticized the DLC. Thats not good for frontier or the community.

If you compare the price of the DLC ($23 in total) there are better ways to spend your money... thats just my opinion

That video is from a year ago. Do you believe the devs are still actively communicating with the CHC?

Oh so your saying the devs no longer actively communicate?? Not even with those of you who paid extra? Thats not cool [ugh]

I know that some of the team at frontier does communicate though, just look at schematics-team
