There is no smoke without fire, generally
.. but people don't always need a *good" reason to be angry.
(for instance, I stubbed my pinky toe this morning and have you even seen Donald Trump?).
There is no smoke without fire, generally
I used to be angry, but maintaining it in the face of ignorance was tiring, so now I've become disillusioned and have gone off to play something else till things improve here.
.. but people don't always need a *good" reason to be angry.
No, but for them to be THIS angry for THIS long with such consistency something must be going wrong somewhere.
That doesn't bother me so much - things take time to develop fully, budgets must be met etc etc etc. What REALLY bothers me is that FDev seem to be oblivious to the degree of anger, and keep doing things like CQC because they think (as they said in a recent interview) "it's what the players want". Uhh, no, what the players want is what you originally said you'd do! Now stop messing around and start either doing it, or at least tell us what you plan to do!
Perfect analogy. I think it's mainly due to people lacking in the imaginative area, not knowing "what to do" in-game. For some of us there's TONS to do, for others however they see it surface only. On the surface there's Trading, bounty hunting or mission running. In the end they think only about money instead of adventure and thus they end with trading and get bored with the game.
Right now it's a limbo point, the breaking point really. The game's been out for almost a year, full release not counting beta, and there's hasn't been much change in anything added. It's stagnant. The calm before the storm.
To solve this we have Horizon's, CQC and a few other added content as well coming our way. But is it too little too late?
People are too used to games that, whatever activity they take part in, they get rewarded well. Take Eve for example, mining in Eve is highly rewarding that even a Trial player can make their first 10million in a day or so. Elite Dangerous is not like that, it requires people to actually WORK to get what they want. Thus mining in ED, while profitable late-game, isn't something a new player can get behind for money making.
So they either ask on the forums or google and find that either bounty hunting or trading is the money maker. Now a new player goes bounty hunting and makes a few hundred thousand with easy missions, but the money isn't fast enough for them. So they spend their newly accumulated wealth on a ship with a big cargo hold and starts trading, making a decent profit. But trading isn't for everyone, I've tried and nearly fell asleep.
So the new player that isn't happy with slow monetary gain takes to the forums to complain about how the game should be changed, or how the game sucks.
Patience is a virtue, especially in a game where it, to steal a Dark Souls saying, takes time to "Git Gud".
CQC beta is the most harmonious update yet .. ? (I think) And there is, a large PvP crowd out there.
I think they're doing exactly what you want Commander, but building it bottom up in a way that I still find very exciting. Nothing wrong with FD raising as much money as they can in my view, the game proper can only benefit from having well funded developers. Plus, have you even seen Donald Trump?![]()
Well, one way you could have avoided coming across as overly argumentative would be to have not included the quip at the end of your reply, but that's by the by.
Your IQ is as high as the T9's agility.
simply put, passion and frustration for something shouldn't = arguments.
What you're doing here is playing with semantics. People you agree with are "passionate"; people you disagree with are "arguing". In reality, as your "IQ" quote and others prove, you're as argumentative as anyone. Which is fine, btw. Just stop pretending. "Oh my goodness - isn't it just awful how argumentative everyone is? I'm shocked, I tell you - shocked!"![]()
I'd agree that out of all the updates so far (other than Wings perhaps) CQC has been the most widely welcomed. It however wasn't anticipated, and noone could argue that it doesn't depart wildly from the original, basic concept of Elite. Remember Braben's been quite proud of the fact that he bucked the trend thirty years ago and made a ground-breaking, innovative game that wasn't "three lives and powerups" and here they are putting exactly that "three lives and powerups" gameplay into Elite now. However yes, it's a welcome update by many and even though I've no interest in playing it I personally don't even have any complaints about it either other than that it's poorly integrated into the main game. My complaint is (and always has been) that they KEEP ON doing updates that people DIDN'T want (even if they were later welcomed) and NOT doing the updates that people DID want and on the promise of which they received their original funding, and to compound the problem and add insult to injury they pretend they can't hear us complaining, act like this was the plan all along, and refuse to tell us what's going on.

Updates coming in an order that the playerbase does not expect, is no proof at all that FD has somehow ditched the overall vision.
Well, given that you were posting things like this yesterday...
...the phrase "Physician, heal thyself" once again springs to mind.

If that IQ joke was taken to be offensive then I appear to be in a place with very sensitive people.
EDIT: Also, even if I was pretending (which I'm not) I don't reckon you'd be in a position to tell me to stop - unless, of course, you'd be willing to forcefully exert yourself upon me, much like how rapists forcefully exert themselves upon their victims, which isn't very friendly and often causes arguments.
Whenever I'm angry on the forums it's because I can see someone else trying to stop the game from improving.
