Why are Protesters Allowed in the Zoo

While I support free speech and all. I can not see why I would allow protesters into my zoo. They are loud and most likely scaring the animals, and do they pay to get in? I say the security guards should boot them out and they can protect on the sidewalk.

Because that would defeat the purpose of the game, which is to have a profitable zoo where animal welfare isn’t compromised. Protestors are the only form of “punishment” the game has if your animals aren’t happy (other than them dying). It’s much easier to fix the problems they are complaining about than to try to ban them all together.

Well, in my headcanon, they leaped over the fence without paying entry fees. Hopefully security guards can remove them from the zoo for causing an uproar and disrupting guests, just because my tapir has too many trees in its exhibit.

that is one way of this game to tell the only responsible person, You, the player, that something went wrong.
in a Real zoo all staff will look after the animals, but in this game the staff only does what you tell them to do( hopefully)
I did not like those noisy bunch of people in my zoos, too. but I understand why this gamefeature is there. so it is up to the player by taking good care of the animals and staff to avoid protester in the zoos

In a real zoo there are protestors occasionally. I have personally seen a couple myself. But they don't normally enter the zoo because that would require paying for a ticket, which funds the operations of the zoo. They would rather disturb the peace outside and inform potential guests not to support the zoo, or any captivity of animals anywhere.

yes, I just wanted to say that in the Game, there is only the player who can realy take care of the animals, and this pretty annoying) feature is there to help the player not to forget " her/his job". it was not my intention to discuss real life zoos in this thread 😺

Protestors are annoying because they're omniscient. As soon as I would get a low animal welfare notification because of dehydration, I would send the animal straight to quarantine to get patched up. So theoretically the animal isn't visible to the public anymore AND is getting better, so nothing should happen. Yet not long after, suddenly protestors would show up to protest an animal that they shouldn't even know has low welfare -- and many times, the animal is already better by the time they make their way over to the habitat, yet they'd still stand there for a while shouting about an animal that is perfectly content.

I agree that you should actively be able to chase the protestors out of your park if you have enough security, but that could also come with a new game mechanic. If you chase them out early and you don't do anything about the animal's welfare, then:
1. Next time they come back, there's even more of them, which could cause an even higher penalty should the inspector see them.
2. They actually do damage when they come back, including potentially destroying barriers and setting animals free.

Anyway, I know this isn't necessarily a feedback thread, but I do agree you should be able to do SOMETHING about protestors, especially when they show up because they know things they really shouldn't/stay in your zoo long past when they should have already left.

Let them all inside, away from public view and then break out the fire-hoses and batons ...

Make like a pit somewhere in the back farthest unseeable part of ur zoo, and just a small path location and drop the protesters in there, perfect.

I mean protesters showed up a lot in Beta, but that was mainly because of the bug where keepers weren’t scooping poop or feeding the animals. Hopefully that is all patched up and working properly now :)

The only thing you'd be able to do legally in real life (in the UK) is have them removed, since it's private property - and there would be nothing stopping them returning. It might turn into whack-a-mole, asking groups to leave regularly, and it would likely be easier to deal with them the way you did in beta, by improving animal welfare. Possible ramifications if you were running a zoo on public land, as the right to protest would be stronger.
If they didn't pay entry, or broke anything, or blocked passage for zoo patrons, that would be something they could be arrested for, but they seemed entirely peaceful from what I saw in beta.

The way they worked in beta was fine for me, though - it's a clear, actionable mechanic.

If the protesters are worried about the animal welfare so much then they should make a hefty donation and be sure to stop at the food and drink stalls and buy a souvenir. That way we can all can be happy.
