Why are secondary weapons displayed left and primary right ?

Since PB i am asking myself: Why did Frontier placed the hud display for the secondary weapons left and the primary right ?
Primary weapons are on the left mousebutton so i expect the hud element for primary on the left side and the secondary (right button) to the right.

Would be nice to swap that.

And : Give us a landing queue, pls - because request docking a thousand times, kills my keyboard and my nerves. If i aproach an outpost with more then 5 ships, i switch to solo for docking and back to open play after it.

I think you can just bind the mouse buttons other way around, and thus they are on the right side.

Solves them a bit.

In space, yes. In stationmenues - Same confusion :)
I can live with it, but it should be changed later in my point of view. We read from left to right and 1 comes in front of 2...

Wouldn't a more accurate representation correspond to which side of the ship the weapon is located at? Just a thought.

Same reason in Skyrim the left mouse button swings the right hand weapon and vice-versa.

I have to look left to read what weapon and ammo is carried by the secondary slot and on the right side i read the weapon and ammo for the primary loadout.
I don`t care the side from where my shot is fired but i want to read a display in order from left to right :D

On the gamepad (or 360 controller in my case) the primary weapons are on the right hand front pad and the secondary on the left hand front pad. Most people prefer to trigger the primary weapons with the right hand, so switching the display is not an option.

Because on my controller right trigger is for firing the right guns, and left the left guns.

They did it for me. All for me!

It might be because most people use right hand to fire with joystick, or because the avatar uses their right hand. But I think it was for me.

I'd imagine for most people using a stick (and can confirm for myself anyway), index finger is on trigger for primary and thumb is on another button for secondary. So primary on right makes sense.

Take the point though that not everyone's set up will be the same. Essentially it's arbitrary, either works or doesn't work because of set up. Might be nice to be able to customize but in the scheme of things is relatively minor and should just take getting used to.

In a sense, same could be said of any/all of the HUD (ie why is this or that on the left or right/top or bottom).

Why is the sky blue and water wet?

epagm

then there would still be the clickable option possible "first/secon weapon switch".
would be working like the display of the weapon in first person shooters when they prefer to hold the weapon/trigger with the left hand..

and it cant be the "right" option to bow down before the console generation.

For a long time now on consoles, the default control setup for most games with primary and secondary fire, is primary on the right trigger, and secondary on the left trigger, so I guess that is where it comes from, since the game has been designed to work well using a controller.

An option to toggle the display of primary and secondary via the options menu would please all.
I own a XBone Controller but play Elite easier on keys and mouse. Even on the controller i would prefer primary on left and secondary on the right trigger as learned from using operating systems and reading text (B follows A).

See this post as a suggestion.

Im 46. I guess my Atari was a console, so I'm in the console generation!

Seriously though, the beauty of PC is that you can use any and all peripherals. The controller works well on a PC. I use it a lot.

Most people are right handed, fire main guns with right hand on any control device like flightstick or game pad. It makes perfect sense.

An option to switch would work well though.

Why is the sky blue and water wet?

Why is the sky Blue:
The first steps towards correctly explaining the colour of the sky were taken by John Tyndall in 1859. He discovered that when light passes through a clear fluid holding small particles in suspension, the shorter blue wavelengths are scattered more strongly than the red. This can be demonstrated by shining a beam of white light through a tank of water with a little milk or soap mixed in. From the side, the beam can be seen by the blue light it scatters; but the light seen directly from the end is reddened after it has passed through the tank. The scattered light can also be shown to be polarised using a filter of polarised light, just as the sky appears a deeper blue through polaroid sun glasses.

This is most correctly called the Tyndall effect, but it is more commonly known to physicists as Rayleigh scattering—after Lord Rayleigh, who studied it in more detail a few years later. He showed that the amount of light scattered is inversely proportional to the fourth power of wavelength for sufficiently small particles. It follows that blue light is scattered more than red light by a factor of (700/400)4 ~= 10.
Tyndall and Rayleigh thought that the blue colour of the sky must be due to small particles of dust and droplets of water vapour in the atmosphere. Even today, people sometimes incorrectly say that this is the case. Later scientists realised that if this were true, there would be more variation of sky colour with humidity or haze conditions than was actually observed, so they supposed correctly that the molecules of oxygen and nitrogen in the air are sufficient to account for the scattering. The case was finally settled by Einstein in 1911, who calculated the detailed formula for the scattering of light from molecules; and this was found to be in agreement with experiment. He was even able to use the calculation as a further verification of Avogadro's number when compared with observation. The molecules are able to scatter light because the electromagnetic field of the light waves induces electric dipole moments in the molecules.

Why is water wet ?:
Wetness is our description of what we feel when we put our hand in water. Saying water is wet is like saying that wood is hard or fire is hot.

Sensory receptors on our hand send information about the water to our brain. Our brain receives the information from our sensory receptors and processes it. A combination of temperature, pressure and the way water moves tells our brain that water is wet.

I was so kind to answer your questions, would you be so kind to answer mine in a constructive way ?

Actually, even though we've been taught to read from left to right, there are studies that indicate than the natural way the mind interprets visual data is from right to left.
Historically ancient civilizations also followed this premise. Just a curiosity to bounce around.

That`s the "trained monkey problem" :) I expect primary (first) on top or left and secondary below or right in a hud or displayed as text.

(2) it`s just my point of view
(1) we could have an option to toggle it
