General / Off-Topic Why are serial killers and other infamous criminals so intelligent and have high IQ's?

It's interesting how the brain works, how one can be so far intelligent to the rest of the game, but at the same time can be a psychopath that commits terrifying crimes with no sense of guilt at all.

What neurological scientists have concluded are that psychopathic serial killers have conditions resulting from specific malfunctions of biochemistry in the brain that they had since birth. The big question, despite all the psychiatric issues that serial killers face, what makes them so intelligent and with high IQ's anyhow?

Of course, such acts of violence aren't in any way justified. But to psychopathic serial killers, it's the other way around. What makes it more mysterious is that in some cases, permanently they show no feelings of guilt for their actions on both the inside and outside, it is virtually impossible to punish them.

Discuss.

Good point, but I think I meant to set the title as "why are many serial killers", sorry. Although it is indeed still true that there have been serial killers out there with amazingly high IQ's. For example, John Cristie, Edmund Kemper, and of course who we all know, Ted Bundy.

Still this question remains: "What makes it more mysterious is that in some cases, permanently they show no feelings of guilt for their actions on both the inside and outside, it is virtually impossible to punish them"

A lack of remorse or empathy and the related pathologies are not directly correlated with hi IQ to my knowledge.
Most people locked up in mental institutions are there for their own benefit, not to keep them from killing people.
We are generally only exposed to and remember the interesting cases.
Let's not further stigmatize mental illness.
Most murdered people are killed by other "normal" people.
It's not the cops, or the (insert race) or the "psychos."
It's the jealous ex.
It is the drug deals gone bad.
It's people being drunk and stupid...

Sensationalism is bad.

I consider myself mentally ill and a permanent sociopath. Let alone I actually like myself being that way.

You probably would not say that if it was true in a clinical sense.
Sociopaths etc are generally fine with the way they are, it's the peole aroungd them that suffer.

Perhaps you might be more interested in the correlations with certain high ranking executives?

The murderers are not something most people need to concern themselves with.
Those guys on the other hand...

attrition?...the stupid ones get caught early so dont get to become notorious or have a criminal lifespan that is long enough to rank as "serial"

In movies and tv shows they are always super intelligent and they select their victims or hide their corpses by lining up certain stars and multiplying that with the number of chromosomes of a Chinese monkey that once accidentally used the abacus of Plato that was found in the cellars of the second house of Michelangelo.... and of course they use bible verses a lot, and more of that kind of incredible ...
I hate it. That kind of crap makes me vomit. It is all nonsense.
In reality the average serial killer is not more intelligent than the average non-serial killer.

Thing is, as someone corrects me I crave so much into coming right back at them, even when i'm at fault, and thus it is somewhat a suffering condition for not only others around me but myself as well. To use cliche options such as 'just going with the flow' are what I avoid, even if they are the best choices because at some point I have to make the person suffer internally one way or another. Speaking of relationships, what I desire are two bonded into one entire sociopathic & manipulative core.

I would assume based on that response that you are a (pretty normal) 20-something male?
Hopefully your ideas about relationships will continue to grow.

It also ignores the reality of who is actually committing most of the murders, population wise.
It is not the mentally ill.

Male, less than 20.

I wouldn't consider myself normal, however.

I'm what many call a loner, people are shortsighted and consider my type suspicious as I show the traits of a potential serial killer. I don't intend on taking the lives out of anyone, but i'll tell you many of my hatred is directed towards millennial jocks. Relationships are currently not my goal, not only because because i'm setting myself for my career as of first hand, but because I find that the majority of young women indulge themselves in gold diggers and dull-thinking jocks--let alone many of them fail to realize for thirty years of their lives that the "awkward, creepy boys in school" just happen to be in major careers where many don't get into.

They have a high IQ because they eat the brains of their victims

Ego less. Humble more. Generate a smaller, more concentrated field of misdirection. Take care of the big pieces and the little pieces take care of themselves.
Practice makes you better at things.

You're far more normal than you might imagine, I'd wager.

I suggest your energies would be better spent not concerning yourself with said people.

Life is damn short.
There is a lot out there to enjoy.

I am quite confused as to what this topic is about...

Brains!

Iv'e heard the term over and over again... but I don't mind the fact that I don't do too much, it's like I don't have a hunger for entertainment.

I build memories differently from the others;
I don't build memories from meeting people, social events & parties. Instead I build memories that are investigatory to life and whatever connections i'm looking for about someone or something.

I never had a chance to be out more often because I don't have a damn driver's license yet--Trying to get it though. That aside, I adapted to being alone for so long, and unfortunately now I feel more comfortable that way. It's better to be more of a relaxed & contemplating person, chances are it might save your life, as many tend to realize at the end of their own lives that everything about people and themselves were nothing but presumption and dumb will, and you could have just let go and figured out that you didn't have to hold on so tight. To realize that in all your life, in all you love, all you hate, all of your memory, it was all the same thing again. Being one with the tide that flows doesn't give the chance of doing something different, as you see those who live life the easy way are always following the same patterns.

At such a young age, i'm getting the thoughts that our elders have on the last days on their deathbeds. I want to do things that are so different.
