Why bother with community challenge if CC resets after beta?

I keep seeing that progress bar get closer and closer every day and it kind of puzzles me as to why people are investing so much time and energy in the lions when they could be just focusing on what they enjoy. I know there would be a great sense of accomplishment if we get there and you can look back and say that your lion breeding zoo with all 100 of its females was able to release nearly 1000 screwy lions that died out because they were all infertile lol.

Mostly I'm joking, but I am genuinely curious to hear from those that are chasing the goal.

In all honesty, I started off doing it expecting to be rewarded somehow. Then I realized that was silly and now I'm just doing it for kicks and because lions are valuable to breed anyway.

Because it's game, and games are for playing and relaxing not some serious stuff in your life where your life could depend on it, unless you are developer of course.

Thanks for all the responses, especially Bitter Jeweler and Tj.

It legitimately slipped my mind to think that people might actually be doing the challenge for the sake of the Beta instead of for the reward. With the prices I see on the market for lions I thought some of it might just be greed. Now I realize that the market prices are as outrageous as they are because all the good folks like you guys are releasing them, and it's open season on the market for the others XD

I've been having issues with staying interested in the Beta. Not because I don't like the game (I think its an amazing zoo game), its just that I find myself bored, due to not wanting to build something that takes a lot of effort in, as the beta will reset once its over, and I'll lose my zoo and builds probably.

@pwc1
Yeah I've been weighing in as much as I can and the poor issue tracker has been getting plenty of my attention, just wondering now if we will even hit the milestone in the challenge. People seem to be losing steam on the challenge and there's only two more days. Not much of a test if we don't trigger it lol. Maybe there will be a super easy goal for the last couple days of beta if we don't.

I understand where you're coming with that @Voids Light . I've built a few nice things and blueprinted them in the hopes the blueprints don't get wiped or formatting doesn't make them unusable etc.

I've been playing franchise and trying to save up to get a breeding pair of lions because I personally wanted to gain a better understanding of Franchise mode, as well as to help test the system. :)

@PixelFlorist
Likewise I just got a pair yesterday (Tigers just had to come first). It felt good finally getting a breeding program running with wolves and then bears to work up to it. I've been contributing what I can, but I guess I just needed the affirmation from the community that I should keep pushing out lion babies lol.

Testing the system but also curious how much i benefit from participating in these events, compared to just selling lions on the market. Not dissapointed, I gained a lot of cc from releasing them to the wild. Selling them on the market would fetch me a lot of more, but I'm pleased with the result.

75000 doesn't seem much, but at this rate we are not going to make it.
If it was a too easy target number, devs can tweak that part of the franchise.

People complaining on 'not able to enter, due to lack of CC', is a very interesting issue. IMO they are right btw...

Also a great way to see how the market changes during a challenge.
Challenges are supposed to be challenging, but not impossible or too easy.

It's a really satisfying gameplay loop- you can't just jump in and get a pair of lions and start breeding. You have to have other programs going steadily, because you need to save up for the lions. I love it. I'm a touch worried I won't actually be able to get a pair of lions myself, but I jumped in late, so that's on me. It's so cool to do something with the community, even if there isn't a reward for this one.

It's a good test.
Shame the users decided to be greedy and charge stupid amounts for animals.

It would have been better to charge stupidly small amounts and allow everyone to gain an understanding of loads of animals instead of the cheap ones only.

A good indication of what may happen in November though. Would be good to have some sort of reward if it's completed to encourage people to make sure it gets completed.

Why 'shame' anyone? That makes no sense.

There are reasons why players set the conservation points 'stupidly' high. The reasons include (but are not limited to):

1: If the player happens to have an animal be born that has high stats (100% size, 100% longevity, 100% fertility, 100% immunity) they will ask for much more than the market suggests in order to preserve the animal for themselves (meaning it won't or shouldn't sell) while keeping the protesters at bay.

note: you can steal those high stat animals if you fork up the conservation points. So this system is not foolproof.

2: Players are simply trying to do what everyone is wanting to do. That being accrue conservation points as fast as they can so they can breed more animals with high stats.

3: This system is new and players are merely trying to learn the system and how it works.

I think 'shaming' them is too harsh,

Posted this in another topic but:
Re-selling should be limited, imo. Animals shouldn't be traded that easily, maybe you need to own these animals for a couple of ingame years before you sell them again

To be honest, the users pricing the animals high, have every right to do so. If I had high quality animals, and I could price them however I wanted, then I would easily do so. Mainly though, I personally wouldn't, due to the fact that my animals would never get sold, as conservation credits cost a heck ton of work to get.

Not to mention, most people raise the prices of the animals, because other people raise their prices. Its an endless cycle of not having credits and needing them. Eventually, I expect the in game animal market to crash, since the prices will be so high, that eventually no one will be able to buy animals at all.
