Why can't a mamba have fighters?

On the subject of hangars, how come the Anaconda (for example) can fit a Class 5 fighter hangar in any of seven internal slots from Class 5 to Class 7, but the doors that the fighter emerges from are always in the same place...? 🤔

I guess the same is true for SRV bays. Maybe the ship reconfigures its internal bulkheads to accommodate the location of the hangar(s). Or maybe FD told a few porky pies and the ship's internal configurations bear no relation to the external hulls. ;)

If a fighter hanger is minimum a size 5 internal why can't any ship with a size 5 get one? Seems rather lame to me.

Not all ships offer the same options.
A Mamba uses its internal space for other stuff.
Just like with real life vehicles.
I think that is perfectly fine.

The Mamba's sister ship, the FDL, does not have the fighter option either. This is simply how these combat ships are meant to be.

A carrier ship being little else than a small or medium hangar with engines would be a new ship class. We'll see what fleet carriers will bring.

I got a flashback to X3 from this... A Kyoto super-heavy carrying 6 Hyperion Vanguard corvettes each carrying two Argon Venti fighters.
I really liked the way they did carriers in that game. IIRC i owned a ship that could launch 48 fighters in different wings.
Would be nice to see that in ED>
