Why can't i jump even tho i have enough fuel and enough frame shift jump to do it

Why can't i jump even tho i have enough fuel and enough frame shift jump to do it i want to jump 15 light years and my frame shift jump is 15.20 so I can do it but it just says fuel limit reached or something andd i have 36 tons of fuel and it takes away littrally notging it says av used the most amount of fuel to jump which is 2 tons ? Some one help 😂

Check your right side function panel. The one that looks like this

Your jump range has two numbers. The first number is your CURRENT jump range. This number is always changing depending on cargo and the fuel you have on board.
The second number in parentheses is your maximum possible jump range, if you have no cargo and only enough fuel for one jump.
You cannot exceed your current jump range. The maximum range only applies if you can get your current jump range to match the max by removing cargo and fuel.

I'd guess you probably took on some cargo and your range is now reduced.
Some missions give cargo as part of the mission reward so you may have cargo on board you didn't know about.

If I'm completely wrong and your current jump range is still 15.2ly, then it's probably a rounding error.
The game tends to round off numbers at varying decimal places, so the distance you're seeing to the destination could be more than 15ly but the display is being rounded down to 15.

Thank you and i have no cargo so it must be an error thanks anyway

That has happened to me a couple of times and it was always due to pilot error. Last time it happened, I had plotted a course at a starport, then remembered I had to restock a heat sink launcher, or something that had a slight effect on weight. I went on my merry way and after a handful of jumps I came to one I just couldn't quite make. I had to replot the course in the Galaxy map.

Happened to me once when I was 1 jump from Beagle Point !!

I finally fixed it by repairing *all* my modules (not just the FSD), so maybe you could try that ?

Happened to me several times. I'd arrive at a system, start scooping fuel and plot a route. Wait for my fuel tanks to be full before jumping and get an error.

The fuel I was scooping added to my weight after I'd plotted a route and the fuel required to make the jump was now more than my FSD could use in one go. I opened up galaxy map and it replotted the route.

So the more fuel you have the more weight because i have like 40 tons of fuel it just says i have exceeded the fuel amount of 2 tons i have a cobra mark3

The FSD has a limit on how much fuel it can use for each jump. Having a bigger tank just means you can do multiple jumps without refuelling.

If you burn off some fuel by supercruising around, you should then be able to make the jump. IIRC... it's been a long time since this happened, mostly now my plotted route is less than my maximum jump.

Did you plot your route after refuelling?

It may be that you accepted a mission and its associated cargo mass and then you added fuel to your ship, or after accepting the mission you may have bought some commodity or other and all these things weigh (mass) something. The Mission Board will not offer you a mission your ship cannot complete at that moment, but if you accept mission cargo mass and then add additional fuel mass and/or cargo, your ship can become heavy enough from the added fuel or cargo mass that it can no longer make one of the jumps in your journey.

The first thing to try is to simply open the Galaxy Map. If it is still possible for your ship to make the trip (via a different route) the Galaxy map will automatically re-plot you a new course via the new route. If the Galaxy Map refuses to re-plot the course then your ship is now simply too heavy, you may have to abandon a mission or two to lower your ship's mass, since fuel cannot be jettisoned.

ALWAYS add fuel FIRST when you dock, BEFORE adding any cargo and/or accepting any mission. This way, your ship is already at its maximum, fully fueled mass (weight) before you go to the Mission Board and the Mission Board takes into account your ship's CURRENT, fully fueled mass/weight in its mission offers.

Eventually, when you have a fuel-scoop you will be topping off at every scoop-able star, mass of fuel will become less of an issue. o7

It isn't directly related to your current predicament but that statement makes me wonder a bit about your fitting; 2t fuel use means you have a 4C FSD at best and 40t fuel means you fitted at least 2 tanks in your optionals. I'm curious as to your reasoning for that choice.

Did you actually check your functions panel to see what your current jump range is right now?

Adding an extra fuel tank will reduce your jump range because of the added weight of that extra fuel. It's the same as cargo.
