Why choose the Diamondback Explorer over the Asp Explorer

I like the way the Asp looks, sounds and handles. It's the first ship I felt at home in. I just 'get it'. I've got four of them! It's substance over style endears it to me in a weird way. I suppose it reminds me of a Bell scout helicopter. I haven't even tried the DBX.

It's a matter of taste and maybe I have none :) phwoar all those sexy pentagons and that tick-like head! :)

The Asp is, objectively, one of the ugliest ships in game. Ship kits and paint jobs can't save it.

I wouldn't say the Diamondback Explorer is a pretty ship, but there is a sort of dignified handsomeness to it.
It looks kind of like an Apache or some other military helicopter.

Appearance is a big deal for some players, and I really don't like the appearance of the asp. If you do like the way the Asp looks or are not bothered at any rate, more power to you. It is a better ship.

On paper, the DBX has very little going for it. I've flown it extensively since 1.3, when it was introduced, and it has steadily grown to be crap at everything. The ASP is actually faster and more maneuverable with greater fire power.

It, the DBX, is in dire need of a balance pass.
Objectively? I actually really like the look of the Asp E. It's honestly one of my favourite looking ships in the game. I hardly ever use mine but have one all set up for that day I go out into the deep.

Yes, yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, blah blah blah. Just because you like it, doesn't change that it is objectively ugly.

If you like it, more power to you. I love the way the T7 looks, and yet I can fully admit that it is objectively ugly(just an ugly that I like).

sorry, not blah blah. Beauty IS subjective as a matter of fact. If you believe otherwise then you are objectively wrong. Not to derail, it's just I'm not a fan of faulty reasoning; It creates such a nuisance.
Anyway, I love Asp screenshots and think that it is an excellent ship, but a bit overkill for my in bubble uses, where I much prefer the DBE.

I hate the bottom cockpit with it's own separate door. I also hate how how huge the cockpit is without actually adding anything to the visibility or extra controls, it's just a big 8 meter by 6 meter by 4 meter room with just a single chair and a holographic console in front. Cockpit could easily be half the size (offering a much smaller target) without having the move the pilot's seat at all, and there'd still be room for a co-pilot's seat placed tandem behind and slightly above the pilot's seat like in the vulture.

As for the bottom "cockpit", streamline it with the hull and turn it into a crew lounge or observatory. Anything but a second cockpit.

Yeah, it isn't efficient use of space, that's for sure.
Edit: This thread has got me to go and do a little engineering on my Asp. Dunno what the hate for it is. Lovely ship:

Edit again: it would be interesting if it were a much smaller ship with the same exact look but where that front cabin were only big enough for a single pilot to fit snugly, like a luxury sidewinder.
