Why did i wait soo lonng.?

I bought one a long time ago when there was no rank needed to buy it (election of the emperor or his/her birthday)? I'm not sure.

I've kept it a while and did some missions, then I've put it in the hangar, cause I've never got warm with it. I've sold it for the FAS.

I bought one, spent a small heap of credits A-rating it and then a pile of mat's engineering it but I just can't think of anything to really do with it. [sad]

Passenger missions? No point.
Trading? Doesn't do anything that my Cutter doesn't do better.
Mining? Flys well but it just doesn't have the space for limpets or cargo.
Exploring? Just, nope.
Combat? Probably, except that I've already got a Vulture for cheap, high-risk stuff and other ships for more strategic combat.

About the only real "niche" I can think of is as mid-tier combat ship that I still wouldn't be that fussed about the re-buy for.
As a rule, though, that's not the sort of combat I bother with very much.

I recently bought a Clipper, and am rapidly growing very fond of it.

I don't fly big ships. I don't like how they handle; they just aren't fun to me. But the Clipper actually handles a lot better than one might expect from its size, and the speed is great. So I finally have a big ship that I can actually enjoy flying. I mean, it's no fighter, but it makes a pretty darn good armed trader and a better explorer than anything else in my inventory (previously, I used a Courier for exploration, but SRV + Courier is a bit problematic, whereas in a Clipper I can carry two and it's not a problem at all).

And then there's that cockpit. Well, bridge, really. Very, very classy. It boasts an excellent view as well, even in 5760x1080 and with headtracking... I get a better panorama of space in front of me than in any of my other ships except the Courier, in fact.

It's a great ship and I'm really glad I finally got around to buying it. Now I just have to learn to wait until the nacelles clear the mailslot before I try to roll to align with my docking pad. :p

It's a big ship for people who need a big ship but don't like big ships. Also, if you already have a Cutter, then that influences your viewpoint a lot. Most folks buying a Clipper either can't afford or don't have the rank for a Cutter.

Also: you say "Nope" on exploration. I say: "31.6 ly fully A-rated, with shields, weapons, and a two-SRV bay, plus a great forward view, 500m/s+ speed, and excellent supercruise handling? Sign me up." And before anyone says, "You don't need guns or speed for exploring, I will just say this: Thargoids."

Yep, it's probably as much my problem as the ship's.

The fact that it's a large pad ship goes against it but, other than that, it's really nice to fly and it'd be right up there with the Python as an all-rounder (albeit, for different reasons)... if it wasn't for needing that large pad.

For me, the best thing about it is definitely the way it flies.
It's just that I bypassed it on the way up and now I've got other ships which do the same stuff the Clipper would probably be good for.

Next time I get involved in a BHing CG, or some kind of BGS conflict, I'll probably sort out some weapons for it and give it a try there. [up]

I've also read that it's an excellent miner, oddly enough (but I don't do mining, so I can't confirm it. It has what seems like a very nice setup in terms of hardpoints and internal bays for the job, though).

I bought a Clipper awhile ago.

Likes - Speed, errr, speed. Looks,it is stunning.

However, Python hits harder, better shields, better hull tanking, medium pads, carries a load. Guess which ship I still have and what got melted for the Corvette.....

It is a lovely looking ship though.

^^This is me too^^
I'm glad OP is enjoying the ship, but it is the only type I ever purchased which is not at least as good as other ships at anything. Can't find any use for it.
