the thought that some suggest... there is no benefit to crime or PVP??

the infamy that results from ones Cmdr name is the benefit from a crime spree of killing innocent Cmdr's etc.. infamy within the game of Elite Dangerous is something that many a goodie 2 shoes cmdr will never understand.

groups like "THE CODE" never became famous becos of their friendly attitude towards unsuspecting Cmdrs.

Those seeking fame by their actions always tend to come and go.
Sure, they may reform or whatever but most probably perceive them more as a nuisance or never have to deal with them ever...so their "fame" is restricted to forums, as they can be ignored in game and not even intentionally if a player only plays in Solo and never reads the forums.
Some players can be notorious and respected...but it takes effort.
Being a plonker does not gather respect.

the point being Fame is what can be achieved. through killing every hollow dot that would cross their path.
right or wrong its is something achieveable by being a BAD        in the world of Elite Dangerous!!

You're only speaking from your perspective and not from that of a great deal of other players.

Feel free to woefully misinterpret my words for the sake of a empty forum calorie. The context of my post: I was referring to specifically FDLs, but also implying Cutters and Anacondas, Clippers, and even Pythons that run away from equally powered or much smaller ships (like an SLF). These are ships that can clearly stand toe to toe with any other ship in the game. Yet many often run despite having the clear advantage.

If they simply stood their ground, and took decent aim with the full force of their DPS, then they wouldn't have to worry about the (often cowardly) bullies of the world.

In the case of AspX, you can engineer them so they can be more than a match for any non-engineered FDL, and even so that they can put the hurt on an Engineered FDL and make them reconsider. However, most of the time, they'd be better off running (though not in a straight line!), which they can do, since they can match the FDL speed for speed, armor for armor, and turn for turn.

Maybe you're in different Power/ allegiance than I am, so I can't see better reason to take you down. You can destroy me too becouse there are many greatest pilots than I am, but will be fun

It's highly unlikely the griefers will post on the official forums as they are generally cowards which will usually combat log when they face a CMDR in a well equipped ship, they like beating on noob cmdrs because they are no threat to them.

Like in real life, people like to intimidate others and trying to show their strength. But mostly, due to compensation of a disability, like SDS. Short D..k Syndrome. This is quite common in Germany. You see those SDS guys on the highways, mostly driving a Porsche, tailgating and behaving awkward...Lol...Btw I am German, but not driving a Porsche. ;-)

Is your Internet dodgy because there is loads of online players, people unlike your self don't want to fly in empty lifeless space complaining about npc's killing them they want real players. Go try open!
