Newcomer / Intro Why do I keep getting docking request denied

So I am still in the Sidewinder and taking a mission to deliver at an outpost and I keep getting docking request denied at the destination. Any reason for this?

All docks are full probably, common if you play in Open mode. You can quickly switch to Solo to dock, NPC's always keep a dock clear for you. ;)

Either the docks are full like The Chef said or you're requesting permission to dock from too far out. I was having the same problem... I'd switch to the left screen, select whatever I was wanting to dock at from the contacts tab and requesting permission. I'd hear that permission was denied and not look up at the chat window in the main screen. I finally caught a glimpse of something saying to be closer than 7,500km. No problems since.

Thank you guys, I didn't know they could fill up. I appreciate the replies. I was thinking it was a reputation thing but then the missions to those ports would not make sense.

I'm not sure if FD have upped the request distance recently, but I've been able to request docking at 8Km, well above the previous 7.5Km limit.

Furthest out I've managed was 9KM at a Coriolis.

I was travelling at full pelt though, so by the time the decision came through, I was within 7KM.
