Why do people wait until a community goal, to be oles?

Nothing wrong with that, but it would mean I would have to gamble. The way I'm currently mining is based on highly specialized mining vessels that leave no room for any combat related compromises. All in all, when it comes to me this discussion wouldn't have to exist. I actually don't care about gankers as I'm perfectly ok with playing in Solo.

But what really annoys me is when Sir Ganks keeps selling his activities as role-playing. What he does is at best a mockery of role-playing and either shows complete ignorance of what role-playing once meant or is simply disrespectful to all role-players from the past. Maybe he is just too young to know what he is talking about. Playing the "cosmic villain", as he interprets it, is already very borderline, as this "role" allows him to do whatever he wants, whereas real role-playing is usually associated with severe limitations to stay true to the role.

But even that I could accept, but a total no-go is to mix two completely opposite roles (the evil murderer and the well-meaning teacher) with one and the same character. At this point at the latest he has lost track of any good form of role-playing. He should at least divide these two activities into two separate characters in order to maintain a minimum of credibility. Or do whatever he wants, but for heaven's sake stop calling this nonsense "role-playing".
While I'm not playing the ganker myself, I'm certainly not going to discount the possibility that it could happen at some time, so I think I'll pass judgement. For the moment I use gankers to test a ship build, and myself, so I just see them as a sometimes useful benchmark for combat. I very rarely meet one unless I go looking.

To be fair to Sandro, his proposal to limit the footprint of Powerplay to control systems only makes the Open idea even better, since it overlays BGS work & PP work on top of each other. Numbers would be an advantage, but it then comes down to a balancing act of territory size, player numbers (both pledged and not) and tactics.
Yeah, I would love to have been a fly on the wall when the open only proposal was discussed at fdev, just to hear the resoning behing the decision to try a 'compromise' i.e. bonus for open mode rather than open only.

A majority of people I see in Open are pledged to a Power in the info box. But I never saw anybody during my own PP, well one at an Engineer Base.

i left pp,i also left the allegience but i still getting shot by npc and people alike for the cargo.only think i dont like about it is that people can still hide in stations furniture and pick off people at will.

2nd option: is that many ships are now customised to the brink of non-destruction able. due to the Ax Engineering and grade updates.

So to blame I would say it was the engineering sided of the game.that the cause of most grieves. if you get a player come in for the first time with an un-engineered ship or a level 2 mod ship and you get a ganker after you, that player will not return to open play.
due to bad experience, also that would cause a lot of headaches for the game devs if everybody started leaving open play for the hard noses who probably started way back in 2018.

From my experience and very limited conversations anecdotally, it seems that even today a lot of newer players still see PP as something to be done in the future, they think it will bring more attention than it will or than they are ready for....or it just seems too complicated and right now they're doing something else, maybe later. Its usually the Prismatics that drive / draw people to PP once / if they get into combat or just want to survive easier.

Indeed.

F all I can do about it or people (like you) who get off by Ganking / Griefing other people for their kicks... But I can call it out for what it is...

Bullying

Just a shame that DB decided that was going to be his business model when he kickstartered ED because he knew that it would attract more guys that like to behave in a debased way. We live in a sh*, 'dog eat dog' world and it's so sh* because some people like to be bullies.

So thanks for your contribution to ED and humanity as a whole. You make it all so worthwhile!

[FDev: Poopooy... Really? That's the best substitute word you thought to use?]

If you'd like to learn about what I've really been up to in game check out the link in my signature along with this thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/call-to-arms-for-a-free-colonia.553462/

You might be surprised by what you learn.

This is one of the reasons that when I'm building any ship I intend to use in open in any kind of populated system, the last stop I make when putting the experimentals on is Deciat. If it doesn't make it to Farseer then it's obviously not ready for open.

So yes, I laugh at those players and then I block them. It actually brought some salty tears a few times into my Twitch chat after I've been stream sniped. Taste great especially with a side appetiser of channel ban.
Just FYI, you (a mod even) sound just as bad as the people who you are complaining about.

Which now reminds me of the people who build super-fast, but vulnerable, ships (equipped with interdictors and bait = docking computer) designed for one purpose: to gank the gankers and grief the griefers. A bit hypocritical. FDev: is this what the game has come down to vis PvP?
