Why do the Pygmy Hippos have trouble navigating water sources

I have noticed that when I have placed Pygmy Hippos into a habitat, they can't find or navigate water, so it doesn't read, and their social is at 12% in my Franchise zoo.
If this problem could be fixed I would greatly appreciate it.

How steep are the sides of you water area? Hippos can't swim and need a swallow slope in game to get in the water.
The lower social stat could be stress? Or if you have a group size that is to small/big. If you look in the menu that opens when you click on them it will tell you the reason.

They have a shallow slope, and I have looked at everything, the social group is good, stress is good, its just the space, the pygmy hippos just can't navigate the water for some reason.

Hello, can the pygmy hippos run around in the lake without the water?

If so, then it should also be possible with water and it is a mistake.
If not, then you have to work on the terrain until this is possible.

Well see, there is an underwater tunnel and it obstructs water placement if water is removed and placed back, but the hippos move around on the bank, but they can't enter the water, I have some rocks to try and help them enter the water, but that doesn't work, the slopes are not steep, screenshots can't paste, but this problem has occurred at other zoos I have made and it is a problem exclusive to the Pygmy Hippo

You can just make a screenshot with F12 and "insert the image" or upload the image to any free pic hosting site and put the link in a comment. I think the only way to be sure if more screenshots :D
From this angle, the area right to tree/above the rocks looks very steep. Do you have the same steepness throughout your habitat?

Works fine - just checked, all my habitats usually have a gentle slope:

So I have now put a miniature hippo in an enclosure as a test ... it worked for me without any problems.
Water is recognized.

Maybe work with stone slabs to make it easier for the fat people to access the water and to find a way to the bottom.
You have to walk to the bottom as you cannot swim.

The water surface is only recognized if it is accessible and only the surface that is walked on, everything around it is meaningless for the hippopotamus and only serves the optics.

Whether for the big ones or the dwarfs.

The water is not recognized even with the addition of the stone slabs that I have put in to kind of encourage them to go into the water, I just don't know what is going on, the same kind of thing is happening for other animals where they can't recognize space or climbable area, there are so many bugs that are bugging my game.

This is how it looks for me when the hippo has access to water.

And this is what it looks like when the water is removed. Not much has changed, the water gives him a little more room to move, but really only a little.

The animal could not climb steep slopes (as seen here). It must be really nice and flat.

Sorry, but that's way too steep.

I see your fix with the rocks but not sure if that rock slab compensation works that way.
Not sure but i think the slab eventually has to connect with the ground, to replace the lack of steepness of your terrain.

I'm really sure it's not a bug but a slight flaw in design.

Edit: @Dienstbier, thank you for the pics. nice explanation.

I agree with others. The slope in the last picture you posted looks just way too steep. Even if you can't post a picture with the navigation, when you select a hippo and turn on habitat navigation, is the water included in the navigable area? If not, then that is your issue. The hippos just can't access the water area.
