Why does Fdev seem to put the fewest resources possible into their most successful and lets not remind them "backed" game by the community..

Sure, the conversation was concerning my comment about the trailer though so the rest is assumption do you see?
I'm not assuming there are hardpoints available in the game this is a fact. I'm not assuming that they are entirely optional this to is a fact. The only assumption going on in this conversation is that you assume you are right. you are not. Your argument is more tenuous than a landable atmosphere

You missed my point entirely, or perhaps I missed yours. That's fine.

I'm very well aware of what they're focusing their dev efforts on, I'm equally well aware of what they'd been half-arsedly focusing on with their FC "update" which broke just about everything that used to work just fine, at least as far as I was concerned.

Now we have a broken mess with servers that strain under the load and crash people left, right and center and things that used to work just fine but don't anymore, carriers stranded in the black because hot spots don't have anything of the materials they're named for and... I could go on.

And still their focus is on a vapor-ware update that may or may not come any time next year (Soon™) instead of making sure that there are still anybody around even remotely interested enough at that point to even give half a hoot? You put 99% of your resources into something that is a vague promise of "things to come" (and I'll be the first to say that I was incredibly hyped when the Odyssey trailer dropped by mistake before the FC fuster cluck dropped a spanner in the works) while completely ignoring the base that you rely on to even want to buy your next offering?

That has all the markings of idiot suits and bean counters being put in charge of something that was, when I backed it 6 years ago, a labor of love bringing back something that I'd been praying for for 20 flipping years. It was the ONLY reason I backed it, because I'm not enough of an idiot normally to pay money for a product that hasn't been produced yet.

If ever a virus comes around that specifically targets short-sighted, selfish, next quarter bean counters and suits, I'll build a temple to it and start worshiping it.

TL;DR: To those 100+ devs working on an expansion that I was incredibly interested in and now don't give two farthings about:

What. Have. You. Done. For. Me. Lately?

I have been one of the most hardcore backers of this project since its inception precisely because I felt like it was the implementation of a vision, not just another way to milk a cash cow and yes, I know how capitalism works, I'm a big fan of it, it's all about offering something that nobody else offers and cashing in on it. All good.

ED is, the way it looks to me, transforming into something that is indistinguishable from all of the other instant gratification crap games flooding the market, and I don't want that. But if I'm a minority and that's what it is, then I guess I'll just have to accept it. I'll spend my money elsewhere. Won't make a difference to the bean counters because I'm just one person, but it won't make me shut up about it either.
You do know they've announced a patch for many of the issues that people are experiencing. I just don't get the angst. It's frustrating I accept, but the amount of hyperbole like this post is just ridiculous.

If a few bugs get you that upset, go and have a look at LOTRO at the moment. Most of the game servers have been down for days now and nobody can play due to ongoing issues.

People need to get a grip. It's a computer game, treat it as one instead of acting like its life or death for god's sake.

You've lost me, right about what? You are suggesting the trailer to Odyssey showed more than FPS with guns?

I do. I learned reading for comprehension 50 some years ago. I have yet to see any results, however, other than announcements about announcements about coming announcements about announcements.

You can announce that you're working on the cure for cancer all you want, but I'm one of those old-fashioned twits who'd rather see actual results. So far, all I've seen from the last three, THREE, FC "patches" is taking a bad situation and making it even worse. But hey, at least they have "100+" developers working on code that we don't even know when will actually drop.

"Priorities". I'm sure you've heard of them, since you're in the business of calling other people ignorant.

I have no idea what "LOTRO" is, nor do I particularly want to know since that's not the game I'm talking about. Much like I don't much care to be told that my A/C not working is not really that important since there are people starving in Africa.

I'm talking about ED. Could we maybe, perhaps, stick to that subject in an ED forum?

Why is it that people believe if you can get out of your chair that the only activity possible will be a fragfest bloodbath? As if the first step you take off your ship anywhere there will be a CoD match going on. Is this what people imagine for elite feet:

You’re 40k lys outside the bubble. You land on a remote, unmapped planet. You look out your cockpit window and see a cave that you’d like to explore. You leave your seat, head down the exit ramp to... BOOM! Out of no where, 30 commanders are going at it on foot! Bullets flying all over the place! Explosions from grenades! You run back to your ship, go to the bridge and look out to the planet... nothing... desolate... you go back outside and.... BOOM, the 30 commander fragfest is back on!

I mean, really? There is nothing else possible on foot that could bring a new level of immersion and experience to the game other than death matches? Imagining that this is the only implementation for feet is actually amusing.
There are three reasons I believe that.

1) The trailer showed guns.
2) The vast majority of FPS games these days are combat orientated.

3) Every single thing Frontier have done to this game has had a huge bias towards combat. There are so few non combat interactions. The new guardian sites (can't visit them without having to get into combat). The beacons (need guns to activate them). The Thargoids there are no meaningful non combat interactions you can have with them, despite asking the dev team before their introduction and them saying there "should" be things to do that don't involve combat.

I don't want it to be at all, but the fact that this is how the game has been presented to us over however many years makes me think it. And if you think we're going to be getting meaningful non combat interactions, then prepared to be disappointed. And if you think we're going to actually get caves, prepare to be very disappointed :)

I'm not sure if caves make that much sense on non-atmospheric or tenuous atmosphere worlds, certainly something would need to form them water or volcanic activity?

Quite a bit of planetary landing to be done yet.
Yes and no. To the extent that planetary landing was meaningfully possible in FFE it was basically all there by Horizons, and then quite a bit more. I'm counting most of what could be done with planetary landings in the "ridiculously ambitious" box.

(Yes, you could land on atmospheric planets in FFE, but this was achieved by making it no different to landing on a non-atmospheric planet except with a different heightmap colour, a requirement to fit atmospheric shielding, and a blue skybox. I guess unless you pick certain nebulae to land on we won't get "blue skybox" until Odyssey)

We are talking about the same game right? ED mining simulator? don't get me wrong I do lots of combat in the game, it's almost all I do with bgs and such, but I would hardly say there's a huge bias towards it. Have you seen the pay differential between combat and literally anything else in game?

Space Worms?

Recent credit increases in certain professions do not change the design of the game over it's life cycle.

The only thing requires serious money is FC. You can enjoy the game in a 300k cobra, if you want. Its up to you :) Nobody sentenced to get any hugh ship. OFC with money opportunities everywhere. In 2014 geting an ASP was months for a casual player. Now konda within 3 days. Money not everything. I prefer fun. If i get extra money thats a bonus.

Yes, it's a computer game. Treat it as one.
