Why does the game not let me hide local chat?

I am able to change every single chat setting EXCEPT for local chat and that is the only one that I want to change. Can you not turn it off like you can the others or am I missing something?


Because I am kinda fed up with all the random messages that constantly pop up into my chat window.

You're lucky. I'm on PC and not only are there more players = more text, but I use HCS Alix who says "incoming hail" every time a message pops up.

It's the same on PC. I used to always turn off local chat even when playing in solo — because I don't need irrelevant text chatter from the NPC captain of passenger ship, who for some lame reason is transmitting on an open channel when addressing his passengers.

Which are spammier than ever! The other day I encountered one NPC who was saying that over and over again like every 30 seconds. It's almost enough to turn a person into an NPC griefer

You can turn off the "incoming message" IIRC

change command protocols

I'd just like the ability to turn off the "entering chat" messages on every jump without either disabling system chat entirely, or disabling all system messages such as those handy "no fire zone entered" warnings.

You can select "System" messages to be tabbed - that way you don't get the "Entering ...." spamming your comms screen every jump.
