Hats are great, and loads of fun. But nobody ever wears them anymore in the tropics. It's a fashion crime.

My grandfather wore a felt fedora, suspenders, and crisply ironed kakhis. Broadway cigarettes and a shotgun. He radiated old Hollywood, selling rum like Bogart in his bar.

Now, you can't even find a hat in the shops. People cover their heads with hoodies. It's a disgrace.

The biggest problem with those that wear hats today is that most have lost the manners that come with wearing hats, i.e., when to take them off.
Yes, all hats, including caps too.

I bought one from REI in Seattle. I don't wear it often in Indiana but it comes in handy on a rainy day! Much better than a hoodie.

My favorite hat right there, my first one was at 17 yrs old. That would have been 1971. Long before Indiana wore one. Bogie wore it well.

That was the second; unfortunately I'm on #3 now. Been wearing these almost daily for 15 years or so now. Keeps the Aussie sun off and works against the perpetual British drizzle as well.

But yes, some people only know me because of the hat, so it's hardly ubiquitous.

Prior to filming the hat was crumpled to make sure it looked withered. It know has its own agent.

Many places around here in Washington state, hats are forbidden -- banks, schools gov. buildings, etc. So the surveillance cams can get a good look at your mug.

Places I avoid like the plague, though I still don't wear hats, unless it's part of cold weather or safety gear.
