The Alpha plays like a demo and is a short version of other titles out there really. Missions, fight this, defeat that. This is your briefing. And to be honest after a week of playing the same eight missions. I'm bored.
Which is exactly why I'm excited about ED. The gameplay /is/ fantastic. But it needs to be part of something bigger, something involving and evolving to really grab my attention. And that's what ED is offering, that's what the game is about. It's why I did play Frontier and First Encounters despite staying harmless (I hated jousting). Upgrading your ship, making money, seeing the universe, telling your own story, not one dictated to you.
Thanks Frontier, the Alpha One (and One Point One) has whetted my appetite and I'm impressed with the graphics and gameplay (much better than Frontier's jousting for my tastes) but I'm looking forward to seeing it fit into the Whole.
