Why have the Black Hole effects been REMOVED? Stop trashing all the good work!

Oh NO! I am only 6k LY from Sagittarius A, and I was planning to pass the Great Annihilator on the way. Are those awesome effects really gone? Should I loiter around Sagittarius until it gets fixed?

I dont get it, why do fdev keep changing things that have been key points of praise?

I remeber autocannons sounding good....

Lowest Common denom........
...
If you get a load of complaints about sound or graphics issues......it is a hell of a lot easier to compress sound files, textures, or reduce polygon numbers, than it is to actually make it work on older hardware.......so often a "fix" can just mean "get rid of it"..........

Unless you plan to go back again, I would wait, I will try to strap together the issue in a vid later, still got some work to finish.

Luckly i'm in a area full of black holes and neutron stars, I'll find a system with both and show how the black holes now have the same art as neutron stars

That's really disappointing. I hope a FD dev replies to this thread or at least acknowledges the issue.

The stars are WAY to dim in elite. They need to be substantially brighter. I understand the cockpit is supposed to be tinting to make it not blinding, but there should at least be a graphical effect showing that. There would be no way you could see anything else while looking at a star. If the cockpit is shattered, it should be blindingly bright. I would like to see stars be at least 2x as bright as they are now. They also need to add accretion disks and such to black holes that should have them and the big stream of plasma from a star to the black hole if it's close enough to feed off it.

The point is that ED should at least get the graphical effects, scale, luminocities, accretion disks, etc as close to real life as possible, keeping in mind not to hamper the gameplay of course. At this moment, with the completely lucklustre gameplay, the visuals and sense of place (space) is roughly the only thing that can keep me playing. There are many complaints one can say about the general representation of space as far as graphics go, but ok, we shouldn't expect an exact replica. But the major events and bodies should be there for us to experience in all their terrifying glory. I don't know what the future holds but the present in ED keeps getting worse without alleviating the general boredom.

No word on this? I hope FD can give us a hint about this. If this is how its supposed to be or if they are working on it. I was also going to see one but i think i'll stay put until i hear something.

I'm halfway to Sag A, kinda disappointed to read this thread, don't know whether to continue, or go back and do the trip later.

Bump for a response from the devs.

Ran into a black hole yesterday, and they got nerfed indeed.

I still remember this one:
QWhzuUU.jpg

On the system map I overlooked the black hole just underneath the blue giant. When scooping fuel, suddenly my world went whirl. I can still feel my head spinning while looking at my screen, trying to grasp what was going on, failing at first instance. I regained my orientation by looking at the edges of the screen. When I saw the temperature of my ship going sky high I knew what it was (had been to Mintaka before) and was awed by the fact the whirling effect got me so disorientated. Got away with 60% hull left, a cracked canopy and a 180 bpm heart beat.

Its really a shame this, actually quite simple, but awesome effect has been equaled with that of a neutron star. I really hope someone broke something, and it'll be fixed eventually.

Does anyone know if this was around before the update today or a result of it? If it was from the update today it should be fixed soon I would think.

I've just recorded a test using the very latest 1.1.05 build - still broken :(

Will stick the video in here as soon as Goolge Tube degrades the video quality ;)
