Greetings Commanders,
today I had an interesting encounter with a pirate commander in an ASP... I was on my trade route, hoping to earn a little bit of cash with my trusty Anaconda, when I was interdicted. Confident in the strength of my ship I submitted, turned around deploying my weapons, when he asked me to drop a considerable amount of cargo. Taking a closer look at my scanner, I noticed he was wanted and had a huge bounty on his head. I was well aware, that it was unlikely for me to destroy him, since in due respect to my heavy armament, he kept his distance, so I could not take him out with my opening volley and I was too slow to pursue him, should the tide of the battle turn against him. Just in this moment another ship arrived at the scenery... it was a Cobra, probably another member of the pirate gang. This eased my decision to retreat... so I powered up my frameshift drive and jumped away, before they could inflict any noteworthy damage to my shields. Back to supercruise I immediately jumped to the location, where I stored my well equipped ASP and went back to hunt down the pirates. When I arrived I met another bounty hunter with a Viper, who was after the same pirates, so we decided to work together.
But there was no trace of them. These pirates knew how to not get caught, it seemed. So after a while of fruitless patrolling in the area, I broke off, got back to my trading ship and back to my main business. Before I could finish my first run, I was interdicted again... the same pirate... damn, this guy was good. I submitted, preparing myself for an immediate attack, but no weapon fire... instead he opened a comm channel, asking me to drop some cargo, again. Although I was pretty sure I could get away again without too much trouble, I answered his call, letting him know, I'd submit this time. This pirate deserved his booty, so I jettisoned what he demanded, we wished each other good luck with our business and went our ways.
Encounters like this are the reason why I'm trading in open
Good pirates are an enrichment for this game.
