Why is Ceres not in the game?

One of the best known and mysterious asteroids in the Sol system:

There are still a good number of things in the Sol system missing in genral, don't really know why. Maybe Ceres problem is that its not that well known in public so many people wouldn't notice it missing, but at the same Time its a well enough know body in the sol system that it needs a good chunk of work to make it accurate. Can't just PG letting handle it and make it look whatever.

I think a lot of the asteroid belt in Sol was dumped on Mars during terraforming attempts, to add heat and water. Phobos and Deimos to.

It's not in the lore. Just comments that have been made, as a possible reason.

The real reason is that objects smaller than ~100km radius are not implemented yet(except for small asteroids in rings and clusters).

The last incarnation of the game (FFE) had Ceres as a normal small rocky planet, as well as "asteroid-moons" like Phobos, Deimos, Amalthea around Jupiter, Miranda around Uranus and a couple other asteroid-sized moons; see the pic on this website. In proc-genned systems these little asteroids never spawned as "planets", only as moons of other planets.Sol didn't have anything past Pluto, because in the early 1990s they hadn't been discovered yet.

Another possible lore reason for it's disappearance:

You know all those generation ships that went missing, as well as all the ones that didn't go missing but arrived safely at their destination? They had to make those things out of something. Giant starships capable of carrying 100,000 people don't just grow on trees.

If you haven't seen The American Astronaut then you're missing out on knowing what is suppos d to be on Ceres.
Fans have always known what those white patches are.

I honestly believe that the only reference FDev used to create the in-game Sol system was a child's textbook. No Ceres or Vesta, no Phobos or Deimos, most of the Jovian moons are missing, and despite all the time they've had to update Pluto's textures with the New Horizons data, they've still not bothered. And don't even get me started on their awful interpretation of Mercury.

Sure, they threw us a bone with the TNOs in 2.2, but that's not nearly enough. This is our own star system for crying out loud, it should be way more accurate than it is. I have apps on my iPad that have more detailed models of the Sol system.
