No idea as you do not give much information, but the beta period is no longer running. The beta release no longer exists.

It is a year of updates. Last "season" had 1.1 to 1.4 each with it's own beta. There will be more.

Beta is early testing access, usually about 1-2 weeks before designed to let people try the game as well as find any bugs and report them to the developers.

so its access to any horizions betas before they are released?

That's not correct, if you buy beta you'll get beta access to all major updates for Season 2 which will be available every ~ 3 months.

Yes, you get access to all of the "point releases" over the course of the year (most likely 4 or 5) in addition to being able to play the released version on launch, obviously. Whether you should pay for any beta access is another question.. but you have the choice.

Correct. For example I was playing Horizons 2 weeks ago in beta version yet it's release to the general public is today. Like advanced screenings of new films although expect to see a few bugs in them as they are test-version builds.

you wont miss anything not getting beta, you just won't be amongst those posting the very earliest vids and pics of new features as they get released for beta in the coming year.
This current one was just the first.

Personally it's a bit like paying to become part of the QA team, and nothing you do in the beta counts in your regular game.

So again no need to get the beta license unless you really really want to.

I don't want to start a new thread on this because my question has probably been asked already, but can someone explain to me;

1) I already own ED. If I buy Horizons, will it just extend my current game to landing on planets (etc) and keep my current 'career' going?

2) If I buy my brother Horizons for Christmas (lucky :):):):):):)) will he get the WHOLE game from start to finish?

1. You get to help others when it goes live
2. You learn the mechanics and have less accidents with your "real" credits , as has been seen with the threads about ship crashes today
3. You get to take risks you won't normally take with your real credits.
4. You get to fly all the ships, as they cost 10% of normal price(many tested the corvette and they couldn't afford to buy a quarter of it)
5. You get to help fix the problems that arise
6. You get to change some of the game mechanics, as we did(50% more fuel in buggy, auto repaired when SRV boards ship and many more)

Yes

and

Ok, thanks. Thats good news. I feel it's a little expensive for those who already own it to upgrade, but I'm sure theres a reason for that which I'm unaware of. I see there is a £10 discount. I wonder if it's best to do it now, or wait for a sale on Steam...

...more to the point, can I wait that long?
