Why is the plains zebra not subspecies-specific?

So I got a (nitpicky perhaps) question about subspecies in this game.

I've noticed lots of animals in this game are subspecies-specific.
Western chimpansee, West-African lion, reticulated giraffe (sometimes considered a seperate species though), grizzly bear, Bengal tiger....
Which is great, ofcourse! I applaud this decision!

But, why not the plains zebra?
There are five different subspecies, four of which (to my knowledge) are kept in zoos, three of those common.
The zebra from this game is obviously based on the Grant's zebra (Equus quagga boehmi).
So I am wondering why it's only known as 'Plains zebra' (Equus quagga) in the game.

(Same question could be asked for the giant tortoise.
However, because most captive giant tortoises are hybirds between different subspecies, I personally don't mind this one)

That's a good question, even the Lion has a subspecific status (and even one which isn't even keept in western zoos AFAIK) and it wouldn't be a lot of work changing a name, the same could be done for the Cheetah.

Because spoiler alert: We are getting multiple lion species in the game, and multiple chimp species, like in zoo tycoon for xbox one, so they need to be defined as their own sub-species. 😆

On a more serious note, I actually think that it could be that they simply don't need to do so. They chose the most well known variant of the animal, in which most people associate the term "zebra" with.

I don't think Western Chimpansee would count as 'most well known variant'
Actually chimpansee subspecies are harder to tell apart than for example Grant's and Champan's zebra.

Um... Is it really necessary to talk about it?

Sorry, I really don't get the problem. Besides animal enthusiasts, I don't think any average fellow would care what Subspecies an animal is.

And as it is trying to be educational, it would be nice to see that there isn't just one type of zebra (but of course that would be seen better on the diferent species).
