Why is this game so TEDIOUS??

If I found having to learn the intricacies, and even basics of the game tedious by literally having to bumble through them, I’d have uninstalled real life a long time ago... 😅 humorous spin on a genuine point of view by not-a-white-knight.

Now if you want a tangent into real tedium you should try playing Pathfinder: Kingmaker on my PS4, it’s probably the best game that’s ever made me want to ask for a refund on a digital sale. Obscure and incorrectly labelled difficult sliders, constant stability issues that have now led to constant crashes at the end-of-quest encounter I’ve last left it at preventing further progress, poorly balanced dungeon crawls requiring immersion-breaking mid-dungeon exits and rests at regular intervals, and yet a certain authenticity to pen-and-paper RPG mechanics and a storyline that compels you to try ‘just one more time’ to see if you can progress... spoiler; you can’t, because it’s going to crash again.

Because:

1) Stuff takes long to do
2) Has more chance to fail because it relies heavily on RNG
3) There is ridiculous amounts required to gather which...
4) ... sees you do it all over again and again.
5) Pits you with underpowered gear agai st buff enemies to have you...
6) ... enter the above stairway to gaming hell.

In fairness to the OP, having bounties apply to ship parts is not the most intuitive thing in the world.
Yeh. I once accidentally blew up an npc in a cnb. No idea how I did it (but point blank frags on an already weak ship as it flew across my view might have been the root cause but that's a guess, one second I was clean, the next I was a murderer - will accept that it was my error). I got 1 notoriety and a tiny fine.

My choice was do the prison thing or wait 2 hours to clean the ship. In hindsight, I wish I'd just chosen prison.

None of it is explained besides the odd error message when you encounter a point of failure. There's no better word to describe the experience than "tedious". Lucky for me, I knew not to switch modules out. That would have made it more tedious.

I know why it is this way. I know it's there to prop up an entirely failing pvp meta. That actually makes the process feel worse though.

"elite has a steep learning curve" isnt that the term?

i remember my first flight direct after initial release (not before). i thought: "what is all this stuff and buttons??"

the game has some kind of complexity to it, i think.

 I don't get this complaint so much? The game might not spell out everything to the player, but as an example and using the Old West: If I go into town and start shooting up the place, why on earth should I be surprised when the local saloon tells me they don't serve my kind around here? I've just made the Town a little more inhospitable to those that might come and do business - I have hurt the Town.

This seems linked with a similar situation when I found the station I used was on lockdown and remained on lockdown for a month+ (I say + because I just ended up moving and doing other things). At first I wasn't sure what was going on, so googled and asked questions of the community. I learned what the situation was about and continued playing.

To use the example above - some people had come into Town shooting it up, so things went on lockdown.

It was frustrating at first contact, but that 2min google search let me know that it wasn't a 'me' error (which is the first thing I find I have to rule out :p), and then I did a little more digging to completely understand what was going on. Whilst discussing the issue on the forum, I also suggested a way I thought would improve the scenario (with a ship with cargo still being allowed to be 'stored' at a station you have already docked in - so you can use another ship to help the station in its fight to get rid of the bad guys and reopen).

Of course the game can improve in certain areas, but sometimes I think some complain about small things that are....just life, and isn't that what this game is meant to do, simulate making your way out in the Verse?

The C&P made me give up on combat entirely effectively removing one aspect of the game I really enjoyed so well done I guess...?

btw: The incident that broke the camels back for me was when I ordered my SLF to attack next hostile only to find out the System Authority had started infighting again causing the "next hostile" to be SysAuth, fun times...

But it does not seem to deter well enough. Also since ED fails to provide a proper criminal career, the benefit of this very complex C&P system is rather limited.

I get that it's confusing to new players, this whole bounty/notoriety and how it applies/can be gotten rid of and so on and so forth, but it's not like there's a shortage of nice people (and some not so nice, but enough talking about me) more than willing to explain it.

And the notoriety bit isn't really that much of a bother (after it was explained to me too). Just have a clean ship of the same kind that you accidentally murdered somebody in (I swear it was an accident, officer!), transfer it to wherever you are, hop into it and now you can go back to doing what you were doing while your notoriety ticks down, then go clean off your old ship when it's zero again. Done.
