Did some mining back in beta and wasn't too bad but now its pathetic, 2 hours mining at a metal rich site and most i got is minerals never saw any gold/palladium at all. To me the game is no longer enjoyable, interdiction is now difficult also trading seems soo long winded now ie you don't make much profit . The game just seems to have took a back step for me :S

I'm only using a sidewinder atm but took home 5 tons of palladium and three tons of platinum in one haul today, second haul was palladium and gold I think. Anyway the two loads came to around 150k credits. The stuff is there, but if it were everywhere then the prices would have to be much lower. Who is going to pay 15k a ton for palladium if every system has tons and tons of it? It's rarity that pushes up the price.
There are traders here making over a mil per hour, so trading isn't ruined for everyone. Don't ask me how they do it, but they do it.
Don't get me wrong, if the game's not fun for you then don't play it, but maybe there's still a chance you can recover that good feeling and carry on despite the faults ... ?

This^^. My last mining trip made me over 267,000cr. There's no bug.

I think the game should be slow paced, meaning there shouldnt be easy ways to make cash fast. Like the old elite.
We are so early in the game, the game was out officially last week and there are players already with 10's of ships and millions in the bank... Should not be Like that i think. Most mmo have a steep progression curve.
Also we need balancing between tasks. There shouldn't be one clearly more profitable (taken risk into consideration). Exploring, smuggling, pirating, trading, mining... Should be balanced.

"Rings" as in planetary rings or did you mean asteroid belts? In other words, can Gold or Palladium also be found in planetary rings or only in Metallic belts?

Belts too, but there are fewer rocks to chose from so you'll have to jump around a bit more. Metallic belts are more common than rings though.

What I meant by rings was basically everything.
You can find metallic belts and metallic rings, both of which will contain palladium/ gold.
The game does not play the way I imagined it would, I've not done any research but I'm sure it's a bug! is it just me or are we seeing too many post/threads where a little bit of searching/researching would have answered/solved the problem? the search function is a new players best friend.
How is the game bugged because you didnt find precious metals yet? lol... And trading being "boring" to you is also a bug how exactly?
