Why is UA-bombing still a thing?

I am an admin of the Benelux Commanders and some of our members recently left the community and are taking "revenge" on us. I can give you the whole story why they do that but I rather wouldn't because it is incredibly childish and boring.

These "ex-members" started to undermine us a week ago, they try to lower the influence of our PMF but hasn't been able to do much so far. After a few days it was announced that our station is 'on the brink of closure', it turns out these guys have been UA-bombing our station for the whole week. Nothing wrong with them undermining us but why is this still a game mechanic to begin with? There isn't anything useful for this mechanic other than grieving. We have been playing in open for the whole week and constantly defended our station against them but they still managed to do it in private groups which is just lame.

I was docked at the Gnosis (another disappointment and another topic), went back to the pleiades and farmed meta alloys for the whole day and went back. I spend litterally 8 hours farming the alloys and delivering them to our station just to find out that it probably wasn't enough.

This mechanic is over 2 years old. We have advanced in thargoid and guardian technology but stations are still vulnerable for this type of 'attack'. Lorewise it would make sense if station are less vulnerable for this attack because of the technological advancements we have made over the years. This station even has a guardian tech broker, how is this still a thing.

It made sense when the mechanic came out 2 years ago when the first UA was discovered but now its just annoyance and grieving.

The game play entails constructive and destructive elements.

Personally I don't see why particularly TS-bombing should be ruled out if other destructive elements such as security murdering, preparing unprofitable systems in powerplay etc etc remain. And I see no point why these should be taken out either.

I believe these game elements contribute to the tool box CMDRs can use.

However the impact of these detrimental activities and the proper countermeasures should be better balanced.

Plus I believe some of these (no, not trying to start another open only discussion) should be encouraged to be carried out in open hence giving the attacked party at least a theoretical chance to directly oppose them.

It is a game mechanic, that's all. When there are CG that are antitehetical to an ideology, there are 3 options available to work against the success fo the CG -1) Just ignore the CG (no impact)2) Combat those partaking in CG (requires combat ability and ineffective when CG are in private group / solo etc.)3) UA Bomb stationIt also serves to ensure players involved in the machinations of PP or CG's etc. have a meaningful reason to travel raround the Pleiades etc. to harvest such materials and to invest in Cargo resistant racks etc. and maybe even meet Thargoids and Guardian ruins that they may oitherwsie have no interest nor reason to engage with,.

I personally don't believe that it should be removed all together either. It would make more sense that the way to counter the bombing would be more balanced.

Is it still the case that a (MA) repaired station, becomes UA proof.

If this is the case; then play the game and fix the station. Then that is one less thing, for the bad boys; to hit you with.

As to 'should UA bombing still work'? Why not? It is there, it has become a part of the game and so it should stay. A numbers of MAs required information list; would be nice. I also understand; that bad boys who do this UA bombing, don't muck about and drop a lot of them at the stations, they wish to harm.

That's never been strictly true, I think - it's just that with no hard numbers of MAs to deliver, people tend to overestimate for safety, and then any future UA attack has to overcome the existing MA surplus before it gets anywhere.

MA and UA gathering are about the same difficulty, bulk MA transport is easier, and if you catch it in the one week "brink of closure" warning period, MAs are considerably more effective - so any group big enough to cause you serious problems by UA bombing is also big enough to cause you serious problems by starting conflicts and giving all your faction's systems to someone else.
