Horizons Why not have a Storage Locker?

There are database considerations with mass storage for players (it doesn't take many items for each player to add 100million extra objects for the db to look after).

I think FD may be resisting db bloat and focusing on the most important stuff first.

i wonder how much bloat is added each time i buy an empty ship and max cargo rack it just in case i need somewhere to store a module in the future.

Module storage is coming.

General commodity storage is not (from what Sandro has said) - although we should be able to deposit Engineer related commodities at Engineers' bases to be used at a later date.

That makes me very happy. I can understand why we can't store general commodities, and am cool with that. But one of my biggest pet peeves about Engineers is that we couldn't hold onto Engineer related commodities somewhere outside of our ships. Even if we don't know when this will be implemented, I'm glad FD has stated they'll add it (or at least look into it) in the future.

Hello.....we just need 50 items slots just at engineer base at least. Or maybe 100 as we don't need too much storage space. See? It's fixed. DB bloat? Do they run the computers from the '98? Ok, then explain how other developers can manage this so easily? Of course, you don't have to pick a great name, just pick a one with personal storage as they have it and they can manage it pretty well. Maybe another reason as this one don't stands?

G'day all,
Firstly, I wish to thank all the programmers and people behind the scenes for what they do to make our gaming more immersive and realistic. Your a top bunch and much appreciated.

But, I must agree with op because;
I mostly fly a cargo Anaconda, or a Python which of course gathers materials as rewards as I complete cargo runs.
I also worked hard at getting Imperial rank and brought a Clipper for my own pleasure racing in canyons, and another ship for when I wish to, go bounty hunting.

You all know the problem;
When I return to home base and want to take out the Clipper or bounty Hunter the Shipyard wont allow me to do so as the Clipper/bounty hunter has insufficient cargo space, so the only choices I have is ditch the materials or sell them on the Commodity market. Some of these materials are hard to come by and I don't want to get rid of them as I am trying to get them together for an upgrade.

I agree, ED has allowed us mission rewards and then it appears,punishes us by making us ditch/sell the cargo to change to ships that carry less.

can we please
(a) have the choice to leave the cargo onboard or transfer it to your other ship.
(b) or have storage at our home base.
(c) or be told when storage at engineers bases will be coming.(which will for us involve a lot of travel)
(d) or allow materials to be stored on-board in the same way data etc is.

I would hope that ED starts to take the time to inform us, it's Client base when these questions will have some answers, I can see op becoming so frustrated, having to ditch materials over and over again, while waiting for ED to come up with an answer to the problem.

Please tell me E.D;
Is there a programming problem with the above requests, if so tell us your client base,
if your thinking about solving the above problems, tells us your client base,
if it's not on the programme to implement changes for this problem, tell us your client base.

As honestly I and others are sick of putting our ideas and constructive complains forward and NOT, it seems, getting feedback on this problem.

yours aye

And that's really all we need, commodity storage for crafting.
I totally understand why not for general commodities, because then mass manipulation suddenly becomes a thing, or say, someone storing a ton of x items, so that they can always be #1 in CG's and such....while I'm sure some would enjoy that, I do not think that is the intention of the game.

Agree one thousand percent (and that's a lot).

Storage for engineer commodities is something we desperately need.

Currently we are forced to schlep around our hard earned engineers commodities.
This greatly frustrates gameplay because it clogs our cargo holds.
This in turn limits the missions we can take on.
And a problem too is the fact that it attracts pirates in droves.
It also limits the ship builds we can use.
Some builds, like pure combat builds cannot even carry cargo.
People who do a lot of combat would severely weaken their ships if they fit their Vipers, Vultures and FDL's with cargo holds for engineer goods.
In many cases having engineer commodities on board makes us a captive of our ships and we can no longer switch to other ships at will.
This severely limits our freedom.

Because all of the frustration the lack of engineer commodity storage creates while playing the game I feel that this is the most important storage type of all.
It should be a huge priority, because it would give us back a lot of our freedom to play the game the way we want it.

I think this is the biggest QoL feature lacking in the game at the moment. I think the best solution is render all engineer commodities as materials. Then we wouldn't need storage. Still, I like to collect items: Karetii couture, Nguna modern antiques, Gilya signature weapons, Tarach Spice etc. Sometimes I like to pretend I'm an arms dealer or drug dealer and it takes me a couple hours to gather the materials (I fill the rest of my hold with generic non-rares like personal weapons and narcotics). I inevitably lose interest and want to do something else for a while but I feel trapped in my ship. I just want to park it for a couple hours and do some combat but I can't. It straight up sucks. Normally I'm against most QoL features but this is past my sense of balance between realism/frustration and convenience/"demersion". I don't want much, just 10t. Enough for a stash.

There is a little hope for this. Will take some time but I found a little hope. In the latest stream from 13.10 Sandro said that the team is really interested in this and is a feature that he will fight for (he is saying that he is fighting for lots of stuff, don't know what that really means) and maybe we will see it in 2.3. Well, this will surely take some time and it isn't an actual confirmation, but I guess there is a hope. Here is the stream https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_hpH8Rca5c and go for minute 18:21 and frankly there are good questions answered after that also, so take an eye there guys.
