Why not separate open and solo play?

Hello fellow commanders,

has there ever been a discussion about detaching the solo play from open play? I’ve read that both modes do affect the background simulation and in my mind this doesn’t make sense. For me as a Trader/Miner, there is no reason to join open play because I can do exactly the same in solo play without getting bothered but if all miners/trades think like this, I expect only feisty commanders in open play…
