Why not the "little" ships

Yeah, some situational vehicles might be nice. Like how you can buy SRVs, it might be nice to buy a high performance system ship that you can just mess about in and enjoy ED's awesome flight mechanics

I want a ship that can I can fly as hard and fast through canyons as possible. Like a SLF, but one that is not tethered to the mothership.

Gimmi Gimmi Gimmi!
Class 2 and 3 enhanced performance thrusters. 700m/s hauler anyone?

SLF, where you could dismiss your mothership, would be awesome for exploration builds.

Not only for exploration. For a lot of things. Quick data delivery missions. Some RES farming somewhere else without a big stupid ship following around or sitting there like a big target. Just flying around and laughing.

Imagine a SLF with DDT5 mods - I think I wouldn't be able to stop laughing because of the sheer fun of it.

Small ships? No, we need tiny ships!

*dreaming*

I do somewhat agree with the OP.

It would be nice to have some dedicated content for smaller ships, I think small pads at certain outposts or planetary bases would be the easiest way to implement this in the short term.

Further down the road you could start to get passenger missions for those not looking to attract attention and want a slightly more low key transport vessel, escort missions where the size of the escort ship is restricted to small pad ships and of course smuggling.

I have no real desire to own one of the big ships for a number of reasons, time and cost being the biggest but I also value speed and agility over size and power. I love the FDL for combat and the Python for it's multipurpose abilities but I feel the Cobra III, the DBS and the Vulture are just more fun to fly.

All that being said I might get a conda one day when I eventually turn my attention to getting Trade elite status and find the Python to be just not quite big enough.
