PvP Why PvP is not popular in Elite Dangerous?

The question has been answered many times over, and suggestions on how to improve PvP have become the main topic for some time. Naturally there is some to & fro on opinions, but mostly it's become about coming up with a PvP led suggestion, because who suggests an idea is a sticking point for some.

Feel free to chip in, it's kind of interesting. Well I think so anyway ;)
Well you know me by now and you know I've chipped in plenty of times before. I've come to the conclusion that there's little point in continuing to offer heartfelt suggestions and ideas until the developers show that they are actually interested. I've yet to see a single dev visit this sub forum despite some fantastic suggestions such as Chongo's idea of an in-game PvP hub, the one with the two stations placed on either side of an extra wide, extra thick asteroid field.

I'm kind of done with throwing my efforts into a black hole without even so much as a glimmer of hope that they might be read by a dev. Especially when I have to wade through flame bait detritus and troll posting every single time.

Ok put an A rated shield. Same expiriement.
Bored already - you obviously can't take a hint.

Not interested in your idea of "competitive" gameplay, and never will be.

[EDIT]Fundamentally, I probably would not use a T7 in any form for CG work anyway.[/EDIT]

I enjoy blockade running too, I'm grateful to those who are willing to give up their time to provide entertainment for me, and I try to be entertaining for them (preferably without getting killed ;)).

But if you had done that run a couple of hours later after they'd all left the game, it would be as safe as solo - although you wouldn't know that until you tried. It's the players that spice things up, not the mode itself. Do you see?

I had moved from incentive across the board model a couple of pages ago. Small incentive would not hurt though.

Competitive /= hardcore.

Can't say I blame you tbh buddy, but it's not all a complete waste of time. And you know me too, I don't give up ;)

Egy Ace Fyke is trying to put a proposal together but is struggling (understandably) to stay focused under fire. I'm optimistic something good can come of this but it's a bit of a mess atm.

I remember adrenaline rush I had while hauling CG stuff in Open right through Pirate blocade. And I remember stopping doing that after failing it once.
So current state where modes are unbalanced coupled with my rationality does not allow me to play the way I want. So this mantra does not apply here well enough.

What has all of that got to do with anything? That doesn't explain why I should be made to live by your decisions. None of that explains why open needs to be raised above the other modes. You offer no reasoning for the choice to play in open, to have anymore importance than your choice of which ship you fly, or what weapons you equip. You made those choices. You have to live with the consequences.

Keep at it, stay on target. I'm sure it doesn't feel like it but I am trying to help you ;)

Is there anyone else that can chip in some decent arguments for the pro 'open is dangerous' side? Other than cheap jibes I mean. I'm tempted to play devils advocate but this really needs to come from a 'true PvPer' I think, not from me.

You never had a case in the first place.

You alredy lost before I began, when you are willing to put your empty words into actions by executing this expiriement, getting rekt in open by min maxed ships while being shot with stock lasers from a cobra npc in solo, you might be on the right path of gitting gud.

Until then keep singing about all modes being equal.

They can recruit players from different time zones and different platforms. They have options.
When you hope to SOLO you become an invisible god mode.

Then let them recruit from the different Modes. Then you'll have this 'magic bonus' you seem to see in Solo. Bringing on some of those supposed 'invisible god mode' players would easily balance things out for you. Problem solved.

The fundamental problem with that idea is that it does go somewhat off-script where FD's apparent plan for the universe as a whole is concerned.

Perhaps when FD release squadrons and fleet carriers, may be players can set themselves up something similar (the carriers being comparable to the stations) but essentially CQC is FD's answer to PvP focused gameplay.

If you stop solo undermining you might have a case and by passing blockades in solo is the same as solo undermining.

Humam psychology makes open undesirable in the absolute most of the cases. And repeating different sentences with the same meaning does not change that fact.

let's be real pvp in any game that's pve focused never works.
noone plays conclave in warframe.
who pvp's in WoW?

so let's be real here, frontier devs won't really flesh out PVP because pvp only works when you circle your game around it.

a prime example is the game destiny.
it tries so hard to be a pve game, but it balances it's guns via pvp, and the result is some weapons feel like you're shooting BB pellets, whilst most just feel, meh.
PVP kills games, and there are a few exceptions, but pve games last longer and generally have longer life cycles and bigger communities, so i can understand why frontier don't really want to touch pvp with a 10 foot pole.
PUBG? dead.
Overwatch? dying.
but WoW? Runescape? even EVE online? how many years and still running?

whilst decent pvp arena's or game modes would be nice,
i think i'd rather the devs focus the man power on coding in atmospheric worlds or space legs, graphical updates to wow me, instead of boring pvp. whilst pvp is other people's cup of tea, it certainly isnt mine for the most part. i enjoy the odd overwatch game, even pubg once in a blue moon.
but the bulk of what i enjoy is farming and killing and feeling powerful.

and pvp is all about balance and fairness.
if we were to have a pvp centric game/mode/s in ED, lots of damage profiles for weapons would change significantly, and the result being that you just wont feel as powerful. engineered weapons and core systems would be deactivated (for balance) and im willing to bet if you were to flesh out PVP in ED , it would either have to class you by ship type (so a sidewinder doesnt come up against a corvette), or they would nerf literally everything great about the game just so players have a fairer chance against eachother.
i like my laser mods. i like my multi cannon mods. i like my shield boosters.

if anything i would like an event based pvp, where something happens and it comes up on the galnet news, and you go to said system where 2 mega ships are fighting, you pick a side, and players fight it out. not exactly a fantastic idea i know, but trying to come up with an idea in 3 minutes isnt easy.

so all in all, the balance world of pvp doesnt fit with pve without extreme (and i do mean extreme) balance changes that would upset so many players (including me) to make the game more fair, and expecting them to seperate pvp and pve balance wouldnt be easy in a game like this, and would require man power to develop you would otherwise want them on space legs.
so to finish, the reason why pvp will always feel like a tact-on addition, its because it is, and probably always will be. this is a pve game, not pvp

It wont, the META for BGS and PP is in solo, there is no point doing anything in open with the current "balance".

I'll just bunch up all I had typed and condence it. Simply have no time atm.
