Why settlement reset is progress when I crash to desktop?

Very often the game crashes to desktop. Every time it happens as I'm doing settlement re-activation.
It resets my progress, wiped the loot, I have no spare power core to power it again. Literally stuck.

Got no other choice, abandon the mission and take a rep hit. 🤬

I'm not closely followed the FDev news. Is this an acknowledged issue? If so is it going to be addressed?

Tip... go to a crash site and there you might get active power core... do that a few time to get like 5 cores... after all you need it for suite engineering... but next time the game crashes you can put an other power core from your inventory.
But yeah the loot is gone... no fix for that 🤷‍♂️

I can FSD out and get in for loots you know... But I'm not doing that and my point is honest people here get very frustrated here. I just want the mission is done to get my promised materials for reward.

To prevent farming, a better way must be implemented. This just gets old.
As I Alt Tab back into the game, it happened again. Two in a row.

I tried that, I got degraded power core instead...

What you need is a reserve of spare power regulators. It does not matter whether you use the one provided by the mission giver, or one from your inventory. The guaranteed way to get spares is by taking the raid missions to eliminate the criminal faction (not scavengers) in a settlement. Kill the occupants as required by the mission, loot the place and then take the power regulator. If you leave some NPCs alive, take the power regulator, log out and back in, the power regulator respawns. But not the loot.

Of course you could just repeatedly hit anarchy settlements without a mission, but that causes the numbers of anarchies to decline. You need to do that sustainably if at all.

Wanda knows some hot places to meet up if you are desperate for some power regulators.

My game has yet crashed the 3rd time as I'm doing the 3rd site. So 3 power cores were lost, achieved nothing...
I shall go kill some criminal settlements to entertain myself and farm more power cores for revenge of the frustrating game mechanic...

As you say, the CTDs are the issue, not the reset. Keep sending the crash reports and they may get fixed. I can't say I've had any doing restore missions recently, but definitely avoid CZ, as they are far worse for CTDs in my experience.

You seem to get a lot of game crashes Cmdr, is your hardware okay or reinstalled the game?
Even my old gaming machine (signature below) has never crashed once running Odyssey.

Wow... Farming power regulator is just as easy as mentioned... i found a minor gang settlement has a Power Center inside of the Command Center.
Run in, stun 2 NPCs and disable the alarm at first floor. Clone a profile for the reactor. Wait for 2 minutes to shutdown, take the regulator. Log off and do it again.

The irony of this is I'm farming power regulator to do regular mission legitimately that FDev heavily modified to prevent farming the first place... I'm like :ROFLMAO:

Surprisingly not a single crash as I'm farming power regulators.... I'm speechless.
Hardware is fine. No other game crashes like ED does.

Parallel on topic: where can I find reactivation mission? I've tried to search it on the forum and the web: systems with a "negative state." Like (civil) war, pirate attack or infra failure. OC with planetary bases. But with these criteria: no joy. What am I doing wrong?

The negative state has to be attached to a faction that owns odyssey settlements and not all settlements are down all the time. Some systems might not even have odyssey settlements. So pick systems wisely.

It sucks but it's one of those things that needs to be done so people don't cheese the game.
