Why the discrepancy in Jump range ?

When I select a ship(and it enters hangar) , I find a slight, or larger, jump range difference between 2 screens.
They are the RHS UI(FUNCTIONS tab,leftmost number) and main screen of OUTFITTING(middle number,therefore I haven't selected or hovered over any module not on ship)
No Cargo in Inventory, and full fuel tanks.

One ship showed 0.01 lower(could be rounding error) in FUNCTIONS tab ,but my DBX discrepancy is larger, showing 0.09 less.
Anyone else ?
I am guessing it is known(like SRV fuel gauge) and not worth bothering BUGS forum.

The weight of the ship matters for jump range, this include the weight of fuel.
The number in parenthesis on the functions tab, is max range at optimal fuel load, this means pretty the same as the amount of fuel that can be pushed into the FSD in one go.
It would also mean you would have to be able to refuel at your destination from such a jump cause your fuel tanke would be empty.

Larger ships get less of an impact from fuel weight as smaller ships, like the DBX.

For instance if you strip and D rate a hauler, with an A rated FSD, and downgrade the fuel tank to the 2 ton, you get from about 32 ly to 35+ ly range, you can only make about two jumps with that, so caution.

Gal map, only plots using current cargo and full tank of fuel, since your range actually does vary with this amount, it's a safe lowest denominator bet for the route plotter, or you would end up having to replot after scooping..

I worked out the other day that the functions tab & galmap now take into account the weight of the fuel in the secondary tank as well as the main one. I'm pretty sure it never used to do that and the outfitting maybe still only considers the weight of the fuel in the main tank. This also explains why the functions / galmap figure is always a bit lower than what you will see in Coriolis etc.

If you look at the lower right hand fuel gauge in your default gui, you will notice there is a very skinny line just above the big fuel bar/indicator. That is the fuel being used for supercruise (secondary tank). If you run that down to zero, it fills back up, taking about a one pixel-wide "sip" from the large fuel indicator.

Don't believe he completely addresses your question either, but highly recommend taking a more positive stance. It doesn't gain you anything but self satisfication, and comes with a whole raftload of negatives.

WRT the descrepency, it is possible that the minute differences are because they might be using two different fuel amounts for calculations. I am out in the deep, so have no way to test it out.

What I don't know is if that fuel in the supercruise "tank" is unavailable for jumping or not, or whether the fuel in that tank is included in the max fuel accounting. If one jump range is calculated with it and the other not, that might be it.

One thing to do is to run around in super cruise within the same system until it goes down by a few pixels. Go back to the station to see if the discrepency is reduced.
