Thinking of getting an add-in card for my PC for Wi-Fi 7 - currently "only" on 802.11ax although my current router is WiFi 5 so that needs updating too :/ (can't get emoji's working on here now...)

If I fit a card, does that "replace" the on-board WiFi?

You should be able to disable the onboard wifi in the BIOS, fitting a card won't automatically disable it.

Same here, ever since one of the previous updates I can't either. I've tried various methods, I can type in a smile emoji...that works but when I click on the emoji icon above nothing happens. The rest of the menu options above seem to work okay for me though I think...strange.

I have opposite, first one is from smilies, next 2 are typed in.

BTW, as per your OP, you should be using Ethernet cable for any gaming (especially ED) so bandwidth is not 'shared' - any WiFi connection 'shares' the bandwidth with all connected WiFi devices so you will stutter if any one else is streaming or gaming.
Of course, if you absolutely have to use WiFi for ED, then 7 may be a very good option due to 3 frequecies, otherwise even with router with 5, 6 or 7 you will get same bandwidth on Ethernet cable which will be max ISP provided down and upload bandwidth due to Ethernet being a switched port AFAIK.

if possible use cat 6 cable to pc when playing online games is my advice the wrong kinda lorry outside and bang goes your connection for a few ms

I would dearly love to be running a CAT6 from my router to my PC. Thing is, I'm in a new build house and all the wiring shenanigans got put in before we bought.

The way the Muppet sparks laid the sockets (comns ones anyway) defies all logic. I won't bore you but I think they were on illegal substances when it was installed.

Anyway, I'm reliant on WiFi for now although there is a plan for some cabling to be done. Which will involve drilling, tracing cabling outside and up the house, back into the loft then dropping it down to where the PC lives. Mrs. Tyres objects to this :D

At the moment, I'm on a full fibre 500mbit connection which, over WiFi, affords me around 350 down and 75 up. Ping is usually around 14.
