Modes Will 3.0 Increase, decrease or have no effect on Open population?

They shut it down, all of the skimmer missions galaxy wide, because there was a core issue at work that they were unclear on. While it's just common sense that they don't want that kind of "money per hour" thing going on too long for balance purposes, it's a loooong ways away from calling everyone "cheats" like Jockey & Co has been doing. If Fdev thought it was cheating, they would have explicitly said so, and then got to banning players who engaged in it along with stripping assets similar to the 5/1 scandal. They didn't, and they haven't. The very worst thing that happened was that players took advantage of a lucrative opportunity using well established ED gaming principles and mechanics!

Where were all the over the top accusations of cheating during Robigo, ultra rares, Massacre Missions, 17 Draconis, Sothis & Ceos? Personally, I think those in the "Hang them thar cheaters!" brigade have sunk to a new low:)

Edit: and I'm still the only one here with a blue 'stache!

You should always wipe your face after drinking bantha milk.

You don't mention that people can keep their shinies at all if there is nothing untoward here, c'mon Jason. They would have simply said 'we screwed up' and not mention player rewards if that were the case.

You've become blinded by confirmation bias my young Padawan. She said that we could keep our mission rewards in the hopes that the torches and pitchforks crowd would finally understand that there was no wrong doing.

I've discovered the hard way that bantha milk doesn't come out easily. At all, really.

Christ Jason, I thought you were better than trying to maintain a position like this, you don't take said missions down and declare 'we will allow people to keep their rewards at this time', (investigation pending, though I doubt any further action), If there is zero wrongdoing why mention player credits?, why put the 'at this time' bit in?, why remove said missions at all? No, your view here doesn't stack up Jason, this was an exploit, like many before it, a hell of a lot of my previous MMO's and the like have rolled players back for this sorta crap. You don't mention the bank robbers, (poor analogy I know), keeping their money and do an emergency review of bank security if there hasn't been a bank robbery.

Frontier are far too lenient, and as usual those that have received said leniency applaud it, colour me surprised.

For the record, I've called for cheaters to be account wiped or banned after each and every incident, including those you mentioned and the Founders world one with module buying / selling.
Also for the record, we didn't sink to any low. You lot sank to the low of being cheats. The only saving grace is, I don't have to directly play with you or the others.

I also know not to bother doing any PP / BGS stuff now, as you have a clear advantage over me with what you can buy or afford to lose.
So the bulk of this entire game is now pointless for honest players.

But hey, I got my VR to use and some new games to go with it. So I got stuff to do until Frontier learn that cheating hurts games.

Yeah, I seem to be disagreeing with everyone in this thread. I call it an exploit, not a cheat. (As I did for all the other gold rushes by the way) And I feel it's bad for the game, so I also disagree with Obsi Ant.

I am Ziggy, and I disagree.

only thing we disagree on I think is the terminology. And it still just flabbergasts me that people can post seriously thinking that there was nothing wrong.

Except she never used the phrase "ill gotten gains" nor any other pejorative term. At face value she is quite simply saying that the fault (if any) exists solely on the programming end and players did nothing wrong.

At face value Paige said that it should not have been possible to do that but they decided not taking your money away... that they had to "decide" not to take your money can NOT be ANY clearer that it is credits you should have never been ever able to make like that.

This thread could function as the almost perfect example of a circular discussion. Personally, I'm in awe of how completely dedicated to the idea of being wrong some of you are. It's really quite impressive:)

You really need to quite talking into the mirror thinking you are talking to other people. People may start looking at you funny.

Of course the people throwing hatred at the ones who reported it should be ashamed of themselves, thats just not right.

Which honest players don't tend do when someone reports a genuine bug.

Yet the comments on Reddit and Facebook towards a fellow player, as well as open bragging of putting them on an harassment list.
Plus the calls to "keep the next one quiet from Frontier" shows just how dishonest these people are.

And they want to claim they were not cheating - well if that was true, they wouldn't be behaving this way would they.
But then, cheaters always try to justify their actions or excuse them. So none of these reactions are a surprise.

At least I don't have to play alongside them, +1 bonus point for the mode system.

Keeping it quiet not going to do any good. Yamiks caught so much crap and it was unfair.

Listen Fdev knows these things are in the game. They happen too often. They've gotta be intentional at this point. They arent removing credits.

They know the missions boards have been wonky for quite sometime. The mid to late game players find this stuff out and use it.

Once it becomes super popular they nerf it.

A small % of the new players will find out about it, and some of these things over the years have been gated by cargo space and what not too. Very few new players are impacted by this. But a lot of the late game players know about it. Trust me they have player heat maps, how much money is generated from one area. All that stuff. They are Devs for christs sake.

This part of the forum specifically really should be looking at things outside of the box for a change.

Meh anyways, you guys have fun.

Bottom line they have existed for months with the same patterns, no punishment for people earning credits. Its a lot deeper than you guys think it is. And if you're upset because people took advantage of something, or in other cases shooting or attacking other players. Every single bit of it is intentional from frontier.

You have two choices. Do it. Or complain about it.

For the love of god how many horses need to die from beatings?

The only thing we disagree on is that an exploit is not a cheat. The former is a subset of the latter.

After Jameson, Sothis, and all the others occurred, I’ve given up hope that Frontier will ever address the culture of cheating their lenient policies has created. Whether it is laziness, ignorance, or simply greed, Frontier has decided they want cheater’s money, and are unwilling to upset them by handling their actions in an appropriate way.

As for myself, I already play the game in Open to make the game potentially more difficult, but I think I’m going to remove a significant self nerf: the pilot ejection rules. While the percentage of players who took advantage of the latest credit exploit is disappointingly high, it still nearly bad as I’d feared. If I’m going to have to keep playing with cheaters, I need to stop throwing away perfectly good whenever I screw up royally.

The game creates its own missions. Do or don't, its up to you. Frontier 's just mopping up the damage later, if publicity is to high, the screw up on front pages.
