Will Elite ever have end-game content apart from exploration?

I'd recommend hunting something that at least exists - Green Gas Giants.

Alpha rare, highest difficulty setting exploration-wise. Doesn't get any harder and end-game than this.
Overall, though - I indeed think Exploration is "the final frontier". Nothing even remotely comes close.
are there actually something like "spawn conditions"? a track?

Heh - found you on ours! Yeah if you are AD and into open play and PvP then I have to recommend BGRD squadron. Don't know them personally but everything I've heard is good. Other than that, ALD seem consistent with open play and PP PvP activity.

RP-wise, AD and probably the rest of the empire groups have plenty I understand, no idea which squads have more or less of that though. But whatever happens coordination by joining discords (not just the public channels, the secure ones where strategic discussions happen) are the way to find where the action is.

For random PvP encounters PP capitals are generally good, to defend yours or attack theirs, but action is sporadic - if you want to be reactive, again the discords/slacks etc are where the furball scrambles will be called.

Important question - are you on console or PC. The latter will be -much- busier. Timezones also make a difference - USA evening seems busiest to me.

Haha you found me! Princess Bubblegum all the way! You are an Elite Stalker:p
I'm on PC, east coast US, so yea that does help at least.
Thanks for the info! I'll look into it!

did you get into anti-thargoid combat yet? as far as i know, a medusa provides good challenge.

did you fight in USS threat 6-7 pirate activity?

did you break into a space installation with recon limpets?

did you actually broke into a high security planetary installation?

did you pirate military convoys or private courier vessels?

most of the challenging gameplay is sandbox, and not guided gameplay by missions.

another thing - did you back a minor faction, get them into control of a station and system, and help them to expand?

and if you have done all of the above... these two threads list a bunch of other stuff to try for challenge:

... ah, and do some races, if you are not into PVP.

Good post !

I can also say: Do Assassination mission with a Eagle. lol Lots of fun to CABUM a Vette NPC with a little Eagle lol

From Frontier's Fleet Carrier FAQ.

Fleet Carriers are mobile bases, intended as an end-game purchase for experienced players. They are also a cross-platform feature.

OP, that is problem with a game that relies on procedural generation to such a great extent. It is a "mile wide and an inch deep". It lacks depth, It has little soul. Nothing means anything. But the game runs itself so the devs don't have to get invloved. So there is that.

Except that anything remotely challenging has been removed from them. Now they are just a credit earning milestone. A bit like old end-game raids in MMORPGs that just become farm-fests in subsequent expansions.

You provide the soul, or do you want an army or a sweatshop of developers creating content for you all the time? ED is not that kind of game.

OP,
There is terrific end game organized PvP content in the form of Tournaments. Join the PvP Hub discord and Galactic Combat Initiative discords. That's where the "Fa Off Sweatlords", and in my opinion, some of the greatest and most experienced PvP pilots hang out.

Teams of 3 or 4 players fight each other in the very dense rings of San Tu 3. Most fly FA Off and Meta FDLs. Getting into or establishing a stable set of wingmates will greatly enhance the experience because having reliable teammates will make matches much more fun.

Warriors of Wyrd has an extremely well organized PvP event every Wednesday at 19 UTC. WoW welcomes all skill levels and are extremely friendly. It would be a great intro to asteroid wing fighting. We all die a lot. And laugh. Information on WoW Wednesdays can be found on the Citadel discord server.

Its best to have a working microphone since the instantaneous relay of information is necessary. DM me if you need help with Discord invites.

Organized PvP is so awesome in this game.... when it works. Hope to see you in a fight soon!

Not that, and i don't want it to be like other games, but i feel it can take some ideas. Like add in the ability to attack certain Starbases (either pledged against your power, or controlled by Thargoids, or are controlled by pirates) where it takes a well coordinated wing or 2 to take out. Possibly with multiple phases like first take out all (50 for example) security ships, then take out station outer defense to open the mailslot, then take out the inner defenses, then blow up the primary subsystems. Rewards can be large amounts of rares materials and put some kind of limit as to how often a commander can do them or how often each station becomes "repaired and taken over".
Could be some really fun stuff.

Addendum: When beginning organized pvp, it most certainly is not necessary to fly fa off and a meta fdl. However, if you are serious, you will probably need to because of the increased maneuverability of FA off and because of the devastating absolute damage with a very generous 2km damage falloff of Plasma Accelerators.

I may have to join that.
With that being said, there still isn't a larger scale RP reason to pvp, except maybe powerplay but 95% of that is just people shuttling supplies in solo, except those few who are looking for actual rp value in open. IMO it'd be better if the game had a handful of systems, that when controlled by your superpower, have everyone in that space benefits like lowers costs and such.

It has been long understood amongst PvPers that there is not much "built-in" meaningful pvp in this game. Elite Dangerous was not designed with PvP in mind. In addition the mechanics are not balanced and the instancing inconsistent.

Yet, the Elite Dangerous flight model is genius and perfectly suited for PvP.

Just another one of those ironies one so very often finds in life.
:)

Hopefully, Odyssey will fix things a little bit.

Cheers!

People race with FA Off!!?? I suck with faoff lol but can half manage a fight with it. I feel like racing with it off would be worse than with it on tho

Yup, you can race FAoff - and it's different than with on, but definitely not worse. Pros & cons.
It's challenging for sure though, which is the point. Winning a race fully FAoff against good racers who're FAon is awesome :)

There is no endgame!

However surely, if it existed, the endgame would be to achieve the most with the smallest ship not the biggest?

Kill basilisks with a sidewinder!

Learning to fly Fa-off adds a whole new dimension to the feel of the game.
Watching Isinona in the early days was a great source of inspiration for me.
Seeing how even a simple mission can turn into a full blown days long adventure, sure makes you question the way you play the game. In a good way. :)

Sanderling has some great Fa-off videos for inspiration too.
Edit : But if your like me, dont ever expect to be that good, Just enjoy the ride :)
