How do you want to use your phone with Planet Coaster?
With some of the consoles titles developers often release smart glass apps that work along side the game. This can be as simple as a new extra HUD element or Map, to streaming the whole game to your smart phone so you can play it anywhere in the house. So they could if they want, develop a companion apps for this. Which would be pretty sweet. However as far as priorities go. This one I don't think will be up there.

So i guess OP is wondering if the game will work with the Google cardboard VR app.
There hasn't been any talk about VR yet. But i wouldnt rule it out as something that comes after launch.

Glorified piece of cardboard that probably costs more than minimum wage. Even though it shouldn't.

You can get plans for free and use any piece of cardboard. The only expensive part is the lenses. That's if you already own the right type of phone.
If you own the correct phone (not sure which ones) you can set up Google cardboard for around £20 - £30.
Very cheap way of trying VR if you really want to see what the fuss is about.

I know that you can use Cardboard with Frontier's Eliteangerous. Can't recall how exactly, but do recall seeing forum posts on how to go about it.
Alternatively, as the rollercoaster must exist in digital format or other numerical description, might it be feasible for that to be made available to a smartphone app which then displays the ride such that it can be viewed in Cardboard?
I think it would be totally awesome to create a coaster track and then virtually ride it!
