The thrusters might look the same but they are not.It is Zorgon Peterson, so not surprising it is be similar to the FDL (It even has the same thrusters)

(Edit Updated the picture of the Mamba's thrusters)

Facetious comments seem to be the norm for these forums nowadays. Bye.You sellin your stuff privately or on eBay Mate, as i am need of some new gear, Thanks.
I’ll get your coat.Facetious comments seem to be the norm for these forums nowadays. Bye.

Two, Frontier has confirmed this several times. And since both the Mamba and Phantom are easily seen flown by AI in the beta it's a good bet we are getting those two. And nothing else.
Oh I see now, the article is using E rated ships laden. So yeah the Mamba likely jumps similar to an FDL and the Phantom likely jumps a bit more than an optimized Krait II.
I was hoping for a Phantom which could at least match the Asp X for range. We’ll have to see how far engineering can push it.
If they don't give us the Panther Clipper soon, then I will write-off this game. I don't mean their definition of soon either.
Just sayin'.
They did in a newsletter some time ago.

Holy ship ! It was the 2014...

affter 4 years the panther clipper is still a myth... i wonder why
Actually I think it might be better than that for explorers…
The Krait II has an E rated laden range of 7.66lys, but with engineering it can reach up to 63.4lys while in explorer trim with SRV. That’s an improvement ratio of 8.28.
Since the Phantom is a variant of the Krait II it’s a good assumption it will have a similar improvement ratio via outfitting and engineering, so 8.23lys * 8.28 = 68.11lys potential range for the Phantom, outfitted and engineered similarly.
That’s not Asp range, but it’s better than Orca range. And if the Phantoms hull mass is lower than the Krait II then the end result might be better yet.
That’s promising. Not what I was hoping for, but the little details might make it better than we can theorycraft right now. If it can jump that far then it might actually tempt me to mothball the Asp X for awhile.
Yep. There's a good reason why the Panther Clipper is brought up very often by the community. I still think its super odd we haven't heard any news about it in so many years.

Personally, if it's so big, I'd be cool with planetary landings only. They could do that now if they tried, or cared. It would open up a re-supply mechanic from on-planet to station or system, just as a quick example.Because the T9 is pretty much as big as it gets with current mechanics. So the Panther is either underwhelming, or requires additional mechanics.

All that you say is true enough. My point is, they could have added it sooner with too much trouble. Re-supply/logistics/game-play details could be worked out later. Keep them planet bound temporarily if they must. Shuttling or re-fuelling could come later.I am sure Fdev had said that due to its size it would require external refueling, so new station mechanics would be need to be designed. Then there is also station cargo movement to be considered.
This may also affect the incoming carriers so might see the Panther with that update ?
