Will these work with Elite Dangerous?

I nowadays run that NXT RH plus EVO Omni-Throttle - great value for money and works a treat in ED.

(You don't need twin throttles in Elite - if you want to fly fighter aircraft in for example DCS then you might consider having twin throttles then - to be honest, I never split the throttles on my Warthog throttle.)

Oh ok cool,I may want to use the twin throttles eventually for fighter games so I guess it will be good to have.

Just curious guys I see that these sticks and throttles come from China if ya buy them from their site any place that I could buy them in the U.S. from somewhere? I live in Pennsylvania.

I see that it says if I would go over $800 they charge VAT fees :( and the shipping is like $80 or like $125 if I use DHL. :(

The US site is https://www.vkbcontrollers.com/

I use both the Gladiator III SCG Kosmosima and the NXT sticks (ad a THQ throttle quadrant) on myPCs - They work fine. Re 32 button limit, You can program the VKB software to present as multiple devices to get around this.
Yea exactly the same site I was at but it still says they are directly coming from China :( it says something like 7 or 8 days or more till I would get the stuff, once I hit the buy button. And the VAT fees if I go over $800 and the large shipping fee.
Oh same with the WinWing site too if i would get their Throttle instead of the other.

In case you didn't already, their shipping policy is outlined on their website - for the north american market, shipping comes directly from China, and you have to deal with customs. As far as I know, they have no local distributors. For the european market, they ship from the Netherlands, so within the EU, which is relatively hassle free. In any case, delivery can take a few days, or it can take a few weeks depending on stock (I had to wait for my stuff for about two weeks to ship, and another three days for DHL to ship). If you want the VKB stuff (and I highly recommend it), there's no way around a bit of patience and hassle.

That being said, in my opinion there is nothing remotely as good in the price bracket of the EVO line. They are not exactly cheap, but they are not exactly expensive either. Don't be put of by their "plastic" construction - the housing is fiberglass reinforced, and the gimbal has ball bearings, so it's not cheap plastic on plastic. The metal construction of brands like Virpil may be much more high quality (VKB has higher tier stuff, too), but the VKB EVO line is definitely the bang for the buck.

I'm not so convinced about the STECS throttle, at least if you fly spacesim primarily (I do). I fly twin sticks with a normal stick for the right hand and an Omni Throttle for the left. These sticks are very good, and very precise - the only deadzone I need is on the Omni Throttle to counter my left hand's weight when at rest. If you want to program the sticks - which you don't have to, they work out of the box - it's quite a steep curve, the software is somewhat complex. But everything, including curves, is stored in the sticks rather than in some kind of calibration in Windows.

Bottom line: The VKB EVOs are worth every bit of hassle to get them.

Ok yea I need patience lol. I heard very good things about VKB stuff.
Yes I do primarily play space sims like Elite Dangerous,Spacebourne 2,X4 Foundations,No Man's Sky,etc.
If I may ask why not liking the STECS Throttle? I don't mind the Twin throttles kinda want that in case I would get in to fighter sims like DCS.

Honestly before VKB I was looking at this

VPC Constellation ALPHA Prime
but it doesn't come with a Base and it would be like another $400 for the base :(
Plus I would need mounting hardware for Desktop

and their throttle
VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle

There stuff is great too but man they are expensive lol.

It's not that I don't like the STECS as such - I'm sure it's a good throttle, and it has a crapton of controls. It's just that I've flown with throttles before, and I like flying with the Omni Throttle much more. But then again ED is the only flying game I play, so no Plane sims or anything, where a throttle is much more useful.

The Omni Throttle is also much more flexible. You can convert it to a "real" throttle by removing the springs and locking the X axis, or you can have it as a hybrid with the X-Axis as a throttle axis and the Y axis with spring return for laterals. You just can't do that on the fly, it's one or the other. Personally, I have it set up as a normal stick with spring returns for the X/Y axes. I use X for laterals, Y for vertical, and twist for thrust.

Oh ok I understand.

I just added more stuff to my post about VPC stuff. Man your fast at posting lol.

 .

From what I hear, the Virpil stuff is great. And to be fair, it's pretty much all-metal machined parts, so a league way above the VKB EVO line. But that reflects in the price :). VKB has similar all-metal stuff in the gunfighter line. If you can afford it, it's probably both very good, but personally I would not spend that kind of money. The EVO is, as I said, punching way above its price tag, and hard to beat, bang for the buck wise.

I have the Alpha on the WarBRD base - I use that in Flight Simulator for stick aircraft. It is super expensive but exceptionally great quality. I did buy the CosmoSim cams to use the Virpil in Elite but in truth I preferred the response of the VKB EVO in Elite so changed the cams back to default (simulates aerodynamic response).

There was some fuss about Virpil being from Belarus but they manufacture and ship out of Lithuania now - so no embargo or tariff issues.

For all flight sim flying I use the Honeycomb Bravo throttle unit with the Honeycomb Alpha Yoke or the Virpil Alpha depending on the aircraft.

BTW - No Man's Sky and flight sticks don't go together - game controller (like XBox360) is usual for their spaceship (you can use mouse and KB) but the flight model is just silly so there is no need for actual flight controls.

I have the Honeycomb Alpha Yoke also I do want their throttle eventually. I only use that for MS Flight Sim

Didn't realize that about No Man's Sky :(
Yea I use mouse and keyboard for NMS.

Dual Gladiator NXT EVO user here. As all the others here have already said: a dual stick VKB setup works more than perfectly together with ED, and is probably the best quality per Euro / Dollar there is. You can't go wrong with the Gladiator NXT EVOs. Only Virpil seems to be even more luxurious, but for a hefty price.

I used to fly with a Thrustmaster T16000M + Thrustmaster Throttle as well. If you're happy to use a throttle in ED, then sure, the VKB STECS works fine. For me, the EVO omni throttle works much better in combat situations because of the fine control over every thruster, but for hauling cargo or long distance exploration, a throttle might be even more comfortable. It's personal preference really.

I didn't know the game had a 32 button limit looks like it had more than that lol in the keyboard settings.
It's a bit (but only a bit, unless you want to go into the details, then I'd have to invoke the Morbad) more complicated than that.
ED refers to the older (of the two available) Windows game device drivers. And it's that game device driver that "only" supports 32 individual buttons (and some axes and a few hat switches). The game itself will support any number (well, at least as far as I've tried) of these game devices, though - two or three 32-button-devices, plus a couple of gamepads and keyboard(s) and mouse(s) simultaneously. Keep in mind that, again according to Windows' house rules, each game device is an individual device (so button 1 on your left stick can fire the guns while button 1 on the right stick can toggle the landing gear), but all keyboards (or mice) will act as one - you can't connect two keyboards and have wasd on the right keyboard for flight control while using the same keys on the left keyboard for comms shortcuts.

I'm running with two Virpil sticks (right one regular, keft one converted to an omnithrottle), plus keyboard (for the in-cockpit panels and comms) and a gamepad (for the free cam and on-foot action).

whilst i can use either joypad or kbm for on foot action i find gun aim is far more responsive using the mouse and can generally turn an aim a six much quicker................
mind you i switch back to pad if not in actual combat for the more mundane things (kick setting chair to reclined)
(so the cat does leave the coziness of the ship and venture outside from time to time ;))
