Will this CPU run Planet Coaster good?

You'll be fine if you set your expectations at a reasonable level. You have a lower-end CPU, but it's still okay for gaming and should allow you to run decently large parks before the framerate tanks.

Honestly, I'm more concerned about your GPU because you didn't mention it. Do you have a dedicated GPU? Because you could have the fastest processor in the world, but even in a CPU intensive game like Planet Coaster you won't be getting anywhere without a decent GPU.

I heard even i7 6700k has trouble with this game so you might need 8 core 2011-3 cpu of 1000$ to play the game well idk

the difference between 720p or 1080p or low and high settings is minimal as long as you have a decent gpu.

It's all about the cpu

the game is just not optimized yet, i hope it will be optimized a little more in the beta

i am using a 6 core intel 6800k, i am probably not getting any better performance than the 6700k user's are, my cpu usage is only about 35% though.i still believe there is a memory leak.i get 90 fps when i first start and it slowly drops to 30 fps and i have to restart and it starts all over again.my cpu is at 4.3ghz btw.

aww even with a 6 core 6800k people cant get 60fps on a full park

[cry]

I can assure you the 6th gen intel core i7 6700k processor is high end and can comfortably run this game in 1920x1080 maxed out settings with 4000 people with 30-45fps. It has a base speed of a respectable 4Ghz with turbo boost to 4.2Ghz. This is a good enough clock speed. And planet coaster according to MSI Afterburner says I have 8 CPU cores and all of them are utilized with a total CPU usage of only 52%. The 6700k has 4 cores 8 threads. According to windows 10 task manager 4 cores 8 logical processes. I can even play with 10000 people on 1920x1080 maxed out settings with 11-21fps. The game is only in Alpha so even good rigs may struggle in some parts.

im honestly confused, i thought 60fps was the norm. Some people even have 144hz monitors, imagine how they must feel

30fps is far from comfortable, anything below is unplayable

For a top-down, relatively slow-paced strategy game like Planet Coaster 30 FPS is totally fine. It's shooters and other games that require split-second reactions that benefit greatly from 60+ FPS.

I have Nvidia Titan X, should that run good.

Uh... Yeah, you should be just fine...[squeeeeee]

Your CPU is going to be holding back that GPU in pretty much any game. You should upgrade to an overclockable Skylake i5 or i7, because what you have right now is like putting a Ferrari engine in a Toyota Corolla. There's no point in having that kind of power if everything else can't take advantage of it

honestly if it wasnt going below 30fps it would be fine but on some parks of the workshop even people with 6700k processor get 10fps XD

Well the game is in need of some serious optimization, as I have th 5960x CPU, that's 8 core, accompanied with the Titan X and even that struggles, I loaded the 'Disneyland Paris' park through steam, and it stuttered while just scrolling round, and it took an age to load...and I have 64GB of DDR4 [big grin]

I don't overclock, so it's only running at it's stock 3.0Ghz, but still, that's a beefy machine struggling slightly.

Sidenote, I always check temps after a play, the CPU cores get to around 40c, (no higher) the GPU, hits 70c (then the fan kicks in) although since Alpha3 thats been infrequent.

you don't need an intel 6 core for this game, i bought the 6800k because i do video editing.the 4790k and 6700k seem to be the best choices for planet coaster.the 4790k gets slightly better single thread performance but doesn't offer ddr4 support.a budget 6600k overclocked works well also. i have tested a 6600k,6700k,6800k,4790k and a 5820k all with pretty much the same results.all were tested with a gtx 1070 or 980ti on an ssd.

Everyone should listen to this, I can't afford an intel, they're just too expensive for me. So, getting an Intel is not an option for me.

Shouldn't have spent $1000 on a GPU then [tongue]

If you got a 980ti (which has the same performance as a Titan X at $350 cheaper, going by launch prices) you could've used the extra money to upgrade your CPU.

I read the intel core i7 6700k is only like US $390 or something according to the RRP on intels site. Intel makes better quality CPUs. Still the AMD FX 8350 is a good CPU.

you can get a 6700k in the u.s pretty often for 319.00 usd. very true a 980ti runs faster in some games that the last gen titan x.i bought a used 980ti for 300.00 usd

WOW! Even the latest i7 6700k having trouble...

1080P All maxed - I manage to keep above 30fps until I hit about 3 - 3.5k guests, then it starts to dip under, going under 10fps when there are over 7-8k guests...

I manage 60fps with around 1k guests and I think anything above 30fps is just fine for this kind of game, it's not a racing or FPS game.

My specs:

Prehistoric i5 2500 @ 3.7GHz
8GB DDR3 @2133MHz
GTX 980Ti @1279MHz/1178MHz/7096MHZ
Asus P8Z68-V PRO *OC BUS*

Cheers,
Fultre
