Will we EVER get navigational hazards in the game?

Why are tiny astronauts a hazard?

Having astronaut standing around a landing pad ready to receive ship is like having multiple ground crew standing around a busy international airport runway.

And we are the one getting bounty for their stupidity?

in fact being a futuristic equivalent of a modern day airport, the entire station interior is considered a run way.

astronaut should not move around a pad until a ship has landed

Though astronaut around the hull of the station is ok as pilot should really fly that close to station outside hull

Gravity use to be awesome. You'd get a huge gravity induced wobble in SC if you went close enough to a planet. It was an awesome way to approach stations quickly. I'd love to see that come back...

Z...

Matthew McConaughey manipulating space and time from inside a black hole, exposing the fact that reality, the very universe and time itself are flat circles, so we just fly around and around like we're a Hot Wheels car on a cheap track.

I long for that.

Or saving George Clooney, just when you thought he was dead and gone, we scoop him up. Imagine his face coming across your scoop target indicator.

No? No. We had things like gravity well, engines would strain and you'd know things were happening - then there was some sort of high pitched noise emanating about that and now we just sort of don't have any hazards any more. My favourite thing to do is cuddle black holes, who knew they had such an attractive personality? I remember when neutrons and dwarfs used to just destroy ships to. I had a couple pythons eaten. It was certainly an experience.

Good old Frontier, violently swinging from one extreme to the next. Design by volume always going to 11.

Simple answer, not going to happen.

Would cause to many complaints from a large proportion of the player base that are allergic to difficulty and having to think.

This is the most likely scenario. Just adding the danger from Neutron Stars and White Dwarfs caused enough hissy-fits on the forum.

That, pretty much. Exploration is very much a padded chair in a padded room with child rubber protection thingies glued on every hard corner.

Sad though, exploration should have dangers that wear your ship down and eventually kill you if you are careless.

On Top of my head :

  • Tidal forces near small black holes should start ripping your ship appart with your hull doing angry noises.
  • Wr/O/B stars can be a million time more bright than the sun and have peak emission in the soft-X/UV/blue. That should eat your shields, and then ablate your hull and cook you alive. Even in SC.
  • BH with accretion disks are mighty X sources, so...
  • magnetars have magnetic fields in the 10^8 to 10^11 Teslas. IMO it would not be kind to your ship electronics and sensors. At least some serious HUD glitches would be fun stuff.

Sure. I'd also like ways to address these issues in game; much like there are ways to mitigate combat damage beyond shields; eg mrm, hrm, chaff, ecm, point defense, afmu, hsl. What does an explorer have? HSL, and AFMU. Woo, quite the range of solutions to all these immersive random encounters, right?

This is the thing, Frontier would just add random total ship loss to some RNG driven scenario and we'd be back to square one of "what unpredictable and unavoidable way do you want to die, today?". This is where Neutrons and Dwarfs were at to begin with; inescapable death. Frontier went to the opposite extreme and now they're not really risky at all. Scooping Neutrons is now no different to scooping any other star.

I welcome a whole range of more interesting things to happen in Exploration; lord knows we need it, but in a game that falls over itself to give combat commanders endless ways to mitigate risk, we'd need the same for exploration. Things like rearming HSL, modifications for shields that reduce certain types of damage from stars, hull/ powerplant repair options, and so on. These all sounds like really fun things in the context of a few rare occurrences, but what if this is every sodding time you jump something explodes, or dies, or you burn to a crisp.

Then it's just the same sort of boring repetition (with the occasional random loss) we have now. It's the execution, like anything. Frontier designs by setting the volume to 11. Every time. What I wouldn't give, for some moderate and consistent improvements.
