The grass often looks green on the other side, but I suspect that NMS will quickly turn out to be repetitive/samey & with shallow game mechanics (once people can actually play the game for a decent amount of time). Also the planets are toy-sized, and graphics very cartoony, which simply doesn't appeal to me, but no doubt it will to others. The proof is in the pudding so I shall reserve final judgment until reviews & youtube videos are out...Absolutely yes!
After the new NMS videos
I am crossing my fingers that ED's landing-on-planets expansion will be much better than NMS (albiet less insta-gratification, more simulation-feel), and hopefully in the same quality ball-park as the perpetually-delayed Star Commander.
Most space games promise the stars (sorry for the pun), but then fail to deliver. Luckily ED has been enough of a financial success that FD is continuing to develope ED further, so I'm sure it will continue to improve/expand.
