Hardware & Technical Windows 10 & Saitek X52 pro

Well I have just raised a ticket AGAIN with them. My x52 pro is great the drives SUCK big time, crashed on one of my PC so badly I was forced to revert to windows 8 the other PC is fine... If you don't unplug the it !! If you do all hell breaks loose. and every time I turn my PC on from cold the LED setting's are lost. but if don't log in and then press Re-Set
the LED's are restored by Black Magic !!! I have also complained about the advertising, they claim "Fully Compatible" with Elite and yet the MFD is of no use at all.
I don't use Twitter or Face book, if your like me then raise a ticket ! The more the merrier. For this kind of money I expect better !

I wish I had read this thread before upgrading to Windows 10. I can confirm that unplugging my X52 Pro makes CPU usage go to 99%. Half of this is Saitek DirectOutput. I can only do a hard power down, and then the computer does not boot back up for hours (you turn it on and the CPU fan goes nuts, no BIOS, takes dozens of restarts to get it working again). I have submitted a ticket to Saitek. I'm considering returning the filght stick as "faulty" and going back to the Xbox 360 controller.

I got this reply from Saitek:

Thank you for contacting Mad Catz Europe Technical Support

Please be advised that we are working on new drivers for most of our products (X52 Pro included).

Until the official drivers are released we advise you to uninstall the software via the Control Panel tool and the drivers from the Device Manager and install these more basic drivers and software:

Windows 10 64-bit

ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/full/Saitek_X52Pro_Flight_Controller_SD6_64.exe

ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/full/Saitek_X52Pro_Flight_Controller_SD6_64_Software_.exe

So I may hang on to it. In the meantime, I have to send my computer away for repair, since it hasn't powered on since the last time I unplugged the flight stick!

Found this on the Saitek Twitter Channel today:
We’re tweaking 2nd round of ß drivers & software for #Win10, sorry for the delay. Postponing for just a little longer! Stay tuned.
So maybe we get the new Drivers soon.

They released Windows 10 BETA drivers a week ago, instructions and download links are here http://madcatz.kayako.com/Knowledge...aitek-hotas-beta-drivers-and-software-release
You'll probably want to turn off the driver signature verification for them to install correctly, they wrote all instructions in Device Specific Installation Notes section in the link above.

I can confirm that unplugging doesn't freeze the system anymore (on X52 at least), no BSODs so far, everything is programmable, no unwanted multiple inputs when buttons are pressed (had that problem using the wheel scroll and mouse buttons on the throttle).
Only two things not working are MFD brightness slider has no effect, and button lights don't turn on when you wake PC from sleep (just unplug it from USB and plug it back for them to light up)

When the final version is out they'll announce it on their facebook page

Tomorrow the next big update.
but reconnecting my x52pro is one horrific thing this time.
one would expect for Madcatz to be able to fix these problems.
or even to hand over the install control.
these automatic installers suck if they cannot write them then they shouldn't

no Horizons today but got a little bit of good news.
by choosing this file by hand I got the X52 pro working.

wile running SD6_64 the installers got stuck.
you know endless wait.
within that state I manually pointed out this driver.
after that the installer was able to finish its job.

I still need to test some more but so far so good.
as you can see the escalation mark is gone.

Mine X52 PRO was working acceptable ( MFD screen and LEDs flashes considered to be normal ) on win 7 32-bit. Some time ago I went 64-bit and ever since it turned into hell. After days of fighting with drivers, profiles, BIOS settings and such I gave up and submitted a ticket with Saitek. I've never heard back from them except for the automated confirmation e-mail. Their "Knowledge base" is absolutely useless, as it has much less information than you can get just by typing on GOOGLE " X52 PRO Win 7 64-bit issue". Apparently this is well known issue and it wasn't taken care of for years. Funny thing is, one of their solutions is to disable USB 3.0 and try it again. Really? How about disabling my graphic card, it might be too modern as well? BTW disabling USB 3.0 didn't help. Anyway, their software sucks, customer service mostly useless and my only hope is that my local Geek Squad (which is currently working on this issue) can get it running for me. Otherwise I have no idea what to do.

Ok i think we have realised now that it works with win10. Id be interested on your overall thoughts of the x52 hotas. what ist the built quality like. do you think the price is ok for what one is getting?

Im asking because im thinking about getting the pro version but i have red a lot of reviewa on amazon that to not sound very good considering the price tag is actually a bit high at least to me.

they replied within 48 hours on their FB page so that might be the best way to communicate with them.
I never had flashing leds dont think they should.
leds do flash when over powered thus that might be solved if you lower their intensity.
after you get it working that is.
my Os is 64 bit as well and all is working fine now.

did you get the endless waiting installer too?
if so install the right driver manually when it does.
do not interrupt it , it will go on when pointed out by hand.
in my other post you see the version that worked for me.
the one in blue!

edit ; I didn't fix the problem with their help btw.
they have no clue

this was the installer I used
usb 3 is no problem here.

It was endless installer and computer freeze. I was trying to delete everything and even found that special Saitek uninstaller and nothing ever worked. As soon as I plug X52 Pro into USB 2.0 everything goes down south. On win 7 32-bit it was working ok, but LEDs and MFD screen were flickering all the time and even it is set for 1/4 of brightness sometimes it was going full bright. From what I know X52 Pro not quite working with Z97 motherboards. I did got reply from Saitek eventually, but this is not helpful. Right now my local Geek Squad working on it. If they couldn't figure it out in the next few days I will install PCI USB 2.0 controller and will try again.

One thing that happens to me is that the Y-Rotation (the E-button rotary) on my x-52 pro stopped working, on the control panel it doesn't even register. It worked perfectly before windows 10.

Another thing that's happening for me is that the green led for the E button stopped working at about the same time I had HUD profile random issues (in win 10 and 7) around the time when MadCatz took over the drivers+software.

I used to have trouble with random disconnects (usually mid-fight...) which re-adjusted the centering. It wasn't driver related issue. Windows 10 introduced some power saving settings which allow Windows to power devices down which are connected to the USB-hub.

To "fix" it, you have to go to the device manager, select "Human Interface Devices". Right-click on the devices, in my case, "X52 Flight Controller (USB)" and select the Settings. There you'll find a tab "power management". Disable he "computer can shut down device..." (or something like that. I don't have an english Windows ;) )

Also, the current official driver version seems to be 7.0.47.1. I got no issues so far. It may be worth a try for you guys having trouble with your X52 :)

The drivers crash on intel usb 3.0 based controllers on z97a boards x99 v3.0 and z170 boards on an older system with a z87 chipset runs no probs

Works fine for me, just needed to disable the clutch again.

Did you manage to find the 'disable clutch' option yet? I have the X52 Pro working fine, but haven't seen this switch anywhere yet.

Ah ha! Found it as I posted;

Devices > Connected Devices > (Bottom) Devices and printers > Right Click the X52 & select Game Controller Settings

Does anybody else have problems with windows stability regarding Saitek drivers?
I'm currently using Saitek_X52Pro_Flight_Controller_7_0_47_1_x64_Drivers.exe and my computer keeps on crashing at random to DPC_WATCHDOG_FAILURE (blue screen of death). I tried running verifier.exe which allows more stricter checking of drivers in windows 10 (or almost any windows) and set Saitek drivers under more strictier surveillance. And after that windows could not even boot, it just BSOD'ded right in the beginning. Fortunatelly I had made restore point just before switching driver verifier on and that way I could easily restore windows functionality. But the point is that those 7.0.47 drivers are dangerous, at least on my computer. I'm goint to try these Saitek_X52Pro_Flight_Controller_7_0_53_6_x64_Drivers.exe probably today and see if they bring more stability to computer. With those 47 drivers, my computer can crash at any moment without warning even if I don't have X52pro plugged in!. Sometimes uptime for windows can be days, sometimes only minutes, it is totally random. Under windows 7 I did not have any problems with stability, ever.

So my question is, has anybody else had these mysterious crashes in windows 10 while having Saitek drivers and did you manage to resolve your problems?

p.s. I've had to reinstall windows 10 from scratch once, because one of those BSOD's messed my windows so badly that I could not recover it in any way, a day wasted just reinstalling everything :(

Considering that I'm buying a new computer in a few months running on a z170 motherboard does that new 7.0.53.6 driver work any better with the z170's usb 3.0 or usb 2.0's ports? Also a side question is the X55 suffering from the same issues the x52 Pro is suffering from on z170 motherboards?

Just add another weird saitek driver issue to the mix, I occasionally see 25% CPU usage from "saitek MFD file system driver" in task manager, but not always and it's not clear what triggers it. This has occurred both on when I was on win7 x64 and now that I'm running win10 x64.

I'm using driver version 7.0.27.13 signed by Madcatz Europe. I didn't reinstall after the upgrade to win 10 since besides the occasional seemingly random high CPU usage by the driver process, the stick works fine.

Except for the LED brightness controls that is. Super quarky but finally got them to stay and the desired intensity. However, when the PC goes to sleep all lights except the one on the "E" button go dark and won't come back on unless I unplug/plug the X52 or reboot the PC.

Really a shame the drivers are apparently such a mess, it's a nice HOTAS otherwise.
