Windows update

That's a VERY nice setup. I too had issues with stuttering and tracking issues and the ONLY thing that solved it was a Windows 10 Refresh along with ED+Horizons. My Rig is budget but it runs VR buttery smooth with VR Medium setting (using the essential Dr Kaii Profile Editor). I've got it locked to ASW 45fps, HMD 1.25

This is all running on an i7-6700k, GTX 970 (no overclocking), 16gb RAM, SSD, All Air Cooled, 2x 1k Monitors, Hotas

Not sure I would this a budget system... A little dated maybe, but budget? Pretty much my specs exactly...

if anything quite the opposite. I am not sure if it is the windows update OR if it is the most recent nvidia drivers which finally allowed me to move from the ones last november....... but i am pretty sure performance has improved for me.

edit.... oh... so it did break stuff for you... that is a bummer. it went ok for me.

Yeah it broke my audio and the rift for some reason. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise, now running the rift through HDMI, bought a beast new sound system/ and high end sound card. Everything is running sweet, performance is good, no difference from before, 90FPS on ultra.

I am not an 'Avid' FPS watcher and not one who gets all shirty if it drops below 90FPS. I play the game, and if the game jumps too much or lags or stutters then i drop these settings, but i can honestly say after a complete rebuild, ridding my gaming PC of all the years of junk and crud that i downloaded to tweak this, and monitor that, that my Rift experience is better than ever. I introduced RIFT 14 months ago after a lot of the crud had already been downloaded, so never had this buttery smooth experince i am now having.

I have now NOTHING but the bare essentials loaded onto my high end gaming rig, to play the game in VR. I only have one add on to the gane ED Engineer and of course the 'I can;t do without this programme 'Dr Kaii Profile Editor' So this VR experince i am having now has for me NEVER BEEN BETTER.

BTW My rig is:

Overclocked Coffee lake i7 8700k, Nvidia 1080Ti Extreme (Not Overclocked), 32Gb DDR4, Samsung EVO 960 M.2 500Gb Drive (Foe OS and Elite) , twin Gb Samsung 960 SSD's, Bridged twin network ports, Rift VR, Custom watercooled full loop inc GPU, latest Rift and Green Team drivers, all put together by my fair hands.....
Needs more gaudy LEDs.

I've done a fresh install of 1803, upgraded to drivers 398.11, fresh install of oculus and its store version of elite, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it runs later on this evening :)

PC auto updated last night, completely screwed up my sound system and bass transducer... Awesome.

Haven't even tried VR yet.

I REALLY don't get this! Same problem here....EVERY Windows 10 Update and my sound gets kicked royally down the pan! Why Microsoft... WHY?????

edit: and it's a different cure each time!

Well I can report that with the fresh install of 1803 along with the other members of the triumvirate responsibubble for running gaming in VR (Oculus Software and Nvidia Drivers) the game is indeed running smooth. I have no doubt part of that is due to me dropping from 1.75x to 1.5x HMD Super-Sampling, but with the latest versions of both Nvidia Drivers and Oculus Software I see no difference in visual acuity.
