I'd been doing a bunch of these in my cutter since 3.0 dropped. It has been fun like a new game where the npcs are firing all kinds of different colored weapons. As well as using their own engineered weapons, they also seem to have visited the frontier store for their own cosmetics 
I tried ramming some cutter targets, and often there was no dent to its shields! Maybe there should also be a "wingmate" cmdr finder options tab similar to multicrew's find crew & type options where cmdrs could put themselves on an availability list where by option, you could see the list of cmdr's nearby a certain radius (ex: 500Ly) who are willing to join a wing and be able to contact.
