Spent all evening on this new update with my friend.

He bought a vulture and earn 6 000 000 CR in one evening by hunting bounties.

This update is very good, and we were waiting for it.

But 6m in one evening with a vulture bought 5m, I think it's a bit too much.

Bounty hunters were clearly disaventaged. But now we can make as money as a mechant who has the unique goal to make money when the hunter wants have fun, gain reputation, become elite, and earn money.

So maybe there is a right middle to find?

Well i spent an evening BH and only earned a tenth that.
I like the new changes. its made the game more fun and a BH primary goal is to make money himself as well as have fun.

At the end of the day, ships are ships, it doesnt mean you automatically beomce a good pilot. it's more important to have have reasonable progression in the game or people just get bored and leave.
The changes have made that happen.

Now we just need a mission overhaul next and variety of missions

So what if we bought, then sold the new ships before we heard of the compensation? Any word on compensation for those of us who just heard the first announcement of reduced prices? It's about 12 million out for both which I'm not to worried about. And I'm not too sure if it's easy to track past owned ships, but it would be nice. 12 million is almost enough for a plasma accelerator :p

How does the range work on the detailed surface scanner?, i can scan an earth like from 40ls away and still get the detailed scan notice so it doesn't seem to be confined to 0.33ls like the fitting screen says.

- Increased earnings from selling exploration data

Oh dear, I should have waited instead of selling those data last Monday

- Added shortcut key binding to open system map

- Jameson Memorial in Shinrarta Dezhra now always stocks all ships and modules
Also best commented with icons:  ;)

We always recommend Commanders carry enough credits to cover insurance costs, but if the worst does happen, maximum available debt levels have been increased to 600,000 credits.
Excessive pampering says I.

Awesome job, Frontier! And quite generous price drop on Vulture (I am not complaining!) I was expecting price to drop around 10-13mil, but really happy about 5mil :) Keep up the good job!

And about wings, I did not realize how badly this game needed this update until it hit. Shows you guys know your stuff :D

I would very much like to play but this patch/hotfix has destroyed the game, it wont even open...just a black screen with a blinking mouse pointer.

Like you I made an embarrassingly small fraction of that quoted 6 million in my evening bounty hunting in an Asp. That being said, the site was brimming with NPCs, and there was a wide variety of ships. No Anaconda's though. Largest was a master Python. It's the luck of the RNGs.

But, I am not complaining. I had a blast and I am presently happy with the new bounties. I earned an ok wage. I am hopeful that we are closer to (or are at) balance, compared to where we were. I'll continue the rest of the week and see if it continues to feel right or if it feels too OP.

Keep in mind, the grandparent sounds like he flew in a wing, and may have done large USSes. It's possible that this is the discrepancy.

Got a Vulture and with the other bounty hunting fixes, this game's now a blast to play again. Made 200k in 30 minutes just leisurely hanging around a nav beacon. Going to hit up some RES and conflict zones next.
And with the increased exploration data payout, it's got me thinking about taking my 30mil Asp out into the dark.
Going to grind my way to a FDL "just because".
Until today I kind of stayed away from ED because it was too grindy and played more Arma 3 but now it's the other way around.
At least until the whiners convince the devs to start nerfing stuff again.

I haven't gotten into BH-ing in a while since doing cargo runs to max out of my Aspy, so could you write a couple of average prices for wanted Cobras, Pythons and Anacondas? I'm curious.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, let's wait and see. But this update brings back the fun in Elite for me. And the bounties are "overpowered". Receiving 6m of bounties in one evening seems not too high compared to power trading with rare goods. Therefore, thx FD for this great update! And...the Vulture is a dream!!!

Sorry, but I just don't believe that someone made 6mil in one hour of bounty hunting. I was bounty hunting for several hours tonight with a friend and we didn't even come close to that. Bounties feel fine, definitely not over priced.

You can make that much in a couple of hours trading an average route, the best rares routes will make 6 mil an hour, combat is still nowhere close to trading. This a move in the right direction , but it is still not there yet.

Edit. I should probably rephrase the above, on reflection it sounded too harsh, "it is a step in the right direction, but there is still room for some improvement, mostly in relation to bounty scaling with harder, larger targets"

On the 5th of Feb's DEV Update, it was insinuated that 1.2 might include the ability to select targets in the system map.

Is there any sign of this feature for us in the near future?

It’s not all about multiplayer though and 1.2 continues our strategy of layering on top of the framework that we have to keep making things better. A simple example of this is adding navigation to the system map, so nav targets can be selected and included in the route planning.

About the new bounties : Some here say it's too much, some say it needs to be more.

I'd say, it's fine now, good balance, carry on.

Dear Frontier, this patch has a list of long anticipated changes, some of which the "old school elite" gamers that have backed the game since kickstarter and can't stand that it will be easier for newcomers than it was for them will be complaining about.

Please disregard any negativity about this patch!

You have made many wishes come true, and that is amazing work! Thank you all so much for this gift to the community!

The requirements will be increased accordingly, your current ranks will stay the same.

Michael

How about making already sold data count for twice the amount on the rank progression scale exclusively (not in a monetary sense)?

That would ensure everyone is in the right place on the rank progression scale. Rank means a lot to everyone in this game I think :)

Hi Michael,

could you clarify if just our rank displays stay the same or if our rank progress stays the same?

Basically are you just hiding the fact that we effectively have been downranked by not displaying it?

Say an Explorer that has been 98% to Elite. Will he still be 98% to Elite. Or did you just in effect nuke half his progress to Elite and he is now at 49% to Elite Rank?

thanks in advance. I am sure you understand how clarification on this would be greatly appreciated by Explorers.

Cmdr Trav ElEr

PS In case it's you just "nuked half our progress". Simply doubling the "Credits earned from exploration" counter state pre 1.2.03 would be a quick fix.
The corresponding Credits don't even have to make it to the balance (well imo).
