Ships wipe account and only allow myself a single ship, suggested progression?

Hello commanders,

I'm thinking of wiping my alt account again, and doing a new playthrough, but with 2 self imposed goals.

1. I'm only allowed to fly FA off. I've been wanting to learn this for years and years, but never stuck with it. I think combining it with a fresh start might help me get over the initial reluctance.
2. I'm only allowed to own a single ship at any 1 time (modules can be stored though).

I'll be aiming to unlock essential engineers, guardian mods like FSG booter and Shield booster, and then bounty hunting I think. I don't enjoy trading and cant stand mining.

I was thinking something like : Sidewinder ==> Viper Mk3 ==> Asp Ex ==> Krait MkII

bear in mind I don't have Odyssey on this alt account, so no access to CobraV or Mandalay for example.
I know the ships I suggested are solid, but do you have interesting alternatives? Something more Fun rather than accepted meta?

Maybe go Vulture instead of Viper?
Also, how about Mamba later on?

If you want to make things interesting, I'd go for less popular ships in general.

Buy a Corsair (provided it is available in Horizons 4.0, else a Krait Mk II), fully equip it to your wishes and sell any other ship. No need to reset your account and regrind things.

For combat/BH? Anything -> DBX -> Vulture -> Mamba

The Vulture is power limited, so if you can/want to do PP2.0, a pair of Pacifiers can compensate for that. Downside is that you won't be doing CZs with that loadout. And if your PP journey takes you to cytoscramblers - those work extremly well on the Mamba's small HPs.
Use the DBX for unlocking the Engineers and collecting the Guardian blueprints. She's also reasonably good in combat - and can be a lot of fun in a shieldless cold build.

DBX is interesting, I'll have a play in EDSY, thanks.
I've done a lot of time in the Vulture, great ship but probably over sensitive to learn FAoff...
I had krait2.and python before. Krait is better in every way except.pure trading imho.

Corsair is not available unfortunately without real money spending. I'll do that on my main account, but not the free one.

If you're going FA off then maybe you want to start out with more sedate ships and work up on the how responsive the controls are. The faster a ship turns the faster you can get it out of control so a more sedate ship is easier to learn on than a pocket rocket. AX is also a major realm for FA off flying so

AX
Sidewinder -> cobra mk3 -> Keelback -> (Vulture fits price wise but twitchy) -> Alliance AX starter -> Krait phantom AX

or if you did enough AX during the war.
Sidewinder -> cobra 3 -> keelback -> vulture -> Imperial Clipper -> FDL/Mamba

What's an "alliance ax starter"?
It'd be one of the Alliance ships challenger or chieftain usually fit out with a basic Anti xeno(anti thargoid) loadout. The AX community maintains a lot of fits and some of them are more forgiving and less engineering. Those are the starter fits and a good place to dip your toes into that world that very much like FA off and learning to fly rings around your opponent.

My fresh start progression, trading and mining focussed, is Sidewinder, Hauler (trade), Cobra MK III (mining), Asp Explorer (mining), T7 (trading), DBX (V1 FSD and guardian FSD booster unlock, maybe SCO V1 these days), start engineer unlocks, Python (mining). However that's with the expecation of at least keeping the DBX and Python at the same time.
