With Chapter 4 out, has Frontier turned over a new leaf?

You don't understand how much it hurts Garris that people have Christmas off four years after they released a video game.

No company that deals in information technology and runs its own servers just completely shuts down over the holidays. At the very least they have a system of on-call duty for their technicians.

So submit a bug report and see what (if anything) support bother to tell you.

This has already been done, not by me but by others. Unfortunately no response so far. Apparently though, I will find my answer if just keep digging through these streams :p

Its working fine for me, maybe the dudes on overtime are working flat out.

That's how support deal with non problems.

No. By logic, the game is a product of frontier and their development character, frontier aren't being whipped around by the game they have made.

This is natural and also has been proven many times over via handling of community issues (the only scope the game has to turn around and influence its maker).

[blah] [where is it]:S Wut?!

I have been on enough forums to know what kind of poster you are. It is clear that the things you have said aren't actually intended to be helpful or constructive, but are rather ways to subtly throw in your own smugness and dislike for anyone who disagrees with you. I believe it is best if I no longer engage in conversation with you.

Can't think of a reply eh ?.

It sounds like you've forgotten the pre-order shenanigans of Elite Dangerous? For example the DRM-free disc edition that Frontier still hasn't delivered.

What use would it be now umpteen updates and expansions later ?.

There is no improved lighting. There is simply the added full-screen 2D colour effect a.k.a. tinting.

I challenge you to show a single screenshot demonstrating improved lighting.

Check out the screenies in the skybox tinting whinge threads, it all looks absolutely fab since the improvement.

The way I understood it, the Beyond chapters were meant to be somewhat of a positive change in direction for Frontier, at least when It came to Elite Dangerous. More depth was supposed to be added and they were going to stop making the same mistakes over and over. Again, this is how I understood it. Personally I saw beyond chapter 4 as a fresh start for myself. I'd quit playing for the most part due to several reasons but after I saw what was coming in Chapter 4, I thought this was finally going to be the time I committed to the game.

Due to being so busy with work and such, I haven't played much but what little I did play and experience of Chapter 4, I enjoyed ( I even posted about it). We're only talking a few hours though. When I look through these forums I see a similar pattern to the complaints about most of the other major updates to this game. I can't help thinking that history is repeating itself. I found the posts about the skybox tinting to be particularly disheartening.

With all that said, do you all believe this is a fresh start for Elite Dangerous? Do you have confidence in the future of the game or do you see this update as more of the same (same missteps, that is) ?

Chapter 4 is the first significant bit of work done to ED quite literally in years that's been of any interest to me. I've not really played in the past year+ due to the game's stagnation (for me), and I suspect chapter 4 is too little too late to address that. HOWEVER, if this is a long overdue change in ethos, with more involved gameplay and mechanics now the norm - instead of shallow bolt-ons - then great!

Hopefully 2019 will see a truly long overdue immersive and interesting addition like atmospheric landings, and I can spend more time in the game :)
