With the implementation o NEW Karma e C&P - Will the Log timer go up? 15 secs is to low!

Yeah that's right 15 seconds is WAY to low. at least for bigger ships.

I think we should start thinking about a higher stakes situation while a noob in a winder should have a 15 sec log out (or even less!) someone with an Giga Anaconda should not be able to log out on 15 seconds. so maybe we could tie it with the rebuy value so the more expensive is your ship the more time it takes to "Log" . right now 15 seconds is HYPER safe to anyone with anything bigger than 700 MJ shield (almost EVERYONE with anything above Python).

I think the Log screen should be between 5 to 60 seconds depending on your Rebuy costs. (and maybe battle rank?!)

15 seconds is what the FSD would need to highwake so i think it's okay.
Most ships wouldn't even resist a 15 second attack from an engineered aggressor.

Tied to rebuy is the worst idea in my opinion. I have a smuggling silent running anaconda. She runs shieldless but for this with modded reactive surface composite. It doesn't provide the same amount of protection like a shield but instead i have 40mil rebuy for a shieldless trader.

And if the person takes out the FSD? And if the person uses fsd reboot missiles? There's no counter to logging that I'm aware of.

Might want to rethink your actions... doing smuggling with a ship with no shields should be a suicide mission anyway.

30 seconds or more would easily fix combat logging it would be too risky to leave your ship floating for half a minute, better off trying to run away!

Not even my fully engineered Corvette would resist a 30 second attack at PvP when just floeting without control. People would just pull the plug again. As i said, the new C&P system should people motivate to just take whatever comes because they know, the aggressor receives his penalty for that behavior. No need to increase the timer. It's already now high enough to make it a "no-option" during combat because nearly everyone would die sitting 15 seconds just around.
If you can't take out a playership in 15 seconds, than you have the wrong tactic and wouldn't win this fight either and so yiur opponent wouldn't even have a reason to log :D

It would increase combat logging, and decrease the number of people in open.

And that's why Karma is there right? to prevent this behaviour... I dont think people would quit just because they are not invulnerable anymore.:cool:

15 sec is not enough, unless you are saying a 1v4 that should be impossible to survive anyway.... but 1v1.... doubt it... you cant even kill my cobra standing still with no shields in 15 secs... and i can let you try ;)

...why not just have the shield on and turn it off when you are 'smuggling' into the station?

That ship is ideal pirate bait, if I pull and disable you with an Asp would you log out to avoid dropping cargo, willingly or otherwise?

But if you want that someone Logs out is Dead for sure. You could also just Post pls Instakill anyone logging out during Combat.

Comes out the same as demanding higher Log Timers for Bigger Ships.
Especially when you start with 15 Seconds for a Sidewinder which I can kill in 3 Seconds or less

So in your ideal game, the options when ganked by some slughead are to die or have bad karma?

Which I guess is why I typically choose option three: stay out of open.

Read the last line... Side winders logs should be 5 seconds from my idea... dont get silly.... it takes at least 2 secs to aim out of interdiction.. so any sidewinder can survive with a 5 secs counter.

base it either on wake time, or combat rank. higher combat rank, more time it takes to properly log out in combat. which is NOT combat logging btw. combat logging is where they pull the plug on their net connection or their isp dies or as once happened to me mid jump it decided to change my ip address without warning (elite gets all annoyed when that happens and logs you out to menu with the error IP address changed mid-session. you then have to quit the game to desktop since start is unavailable). in other words one is logging out as FD allow and the other is trying to avoid losing an expensive ship in a losing fight.
 
The biggest fix they need to implement with logging off is take the timer away from the menu, if the phone rings or the door goes let me just log off without having to wait for a countdown to finish then confirm.

By all means increase the in-game timer to a couple of minutes or whatever, but leave me out of it by having it auto-confirm.

Real life and all that.
 
No thanks I think they should reduce it to 5 seconds or less it is a pain when real life issues or the phone goes or someone knocks at the door having to wait 15 seconds to log out
if you are not in combat not an issue waiting. click log out to desktop or whatever, go take the call, you will be logged out when you come back and then you can shut down the pc or log in again or whatever. well thats how it should work. if i click exit to desktop it should ask me if im sure, warn me if im in a combat or other risky situation that it will log me out after a set time then DO IT. dont ask me again for confirmation as if i was an idiot (from stigbob post that seems to be the case) who doesnt know what buttons hes pressing.

Diamond Frogs is a large group with all sorts of players. Not everyone does combat.
