WMR Teething Issues - help requested!

Hi guys, I got the HP Reverb and can't seem to play Elite. I've got a couple of problems, I was wondering if anyone had encountered them and could offer some tips?

1. I can't recenter. I've only ever been able to recenter once. It was after it wasn't working, and trying anything, I decided to run the boundaries setup. Right after that, it centered fine, but that method doesn't help anymore. What happens is, if I try to recenter in Elite (or any other game that has this feature), I see it flash for a second to the centered position, then it reverts immediately back.
2. I use the Valve Index Knuckles and Vive Controllers. I have had to run OpenVR Space Calibrator to get everything synced up. Only problem is, everything about this constantly breaks. If, for example, I do any kind of room setup on the HP Reverb through WMR's menu, then the Space Calibrator is misaligned. Thing is, I have to do that all the time because WMR constantly forgets I've run it and asks me to run it again, or it forgets where I've set the floor to etc. It's really getting a bit of a hassle now. Is there a permafix?
3. WMR crashes a lot. The screen goes blank, and WMR's window has a spinning icon that I've never seen sort itself out. Restarting WMR doesn't help, I need to log off and on. Ugh.
4. I have a bluetooth dongle, but I can't seem to get my Valve Knuckles connected through it, I seem to have to use my old VIve Link box, which I'd ideally like to free up to use on a different computer. Is there any special method to get them and the base stations connected via the dongle?
5. The tracking seems pretty bad. Even when I get the vive base stations and valve knuckles working with steamvr, it seems like the tracking is still camera based. Is there some special method to get the tracking working with the base stations?

These 5 glaring issues aside, I am really in love with the HP Reverb and WMR in general, I think it's great. But these issues though...

Anyone fought with and overcome them? Can you lend a fellow traveller some aide?

Also, if anyone knows how to set it so the mouse, by default, is on my desktop rather than in the WMR VR interface, I'd much appreciate that too...

I don't have experience of running your setup but some thoughts on things to try, obviously moot if you've tried them already:
  • Try the headset on it's own without the controller or base stations attached or OpenVR running, might be some conflicts there?
  • Have you got a lot of stuff running off USB? Might be worth trying the headset, base stations/controllers from a powered USB port, either external hub or internal PCIe card. The screens of my headsets would shut off occassionally until I moved them to a SATA powered USB card, I don't even have that much plugged in.
  • Disable USB power management if you haven't already
  • All WMR headsets are inside out tracking only, they don't use base stations
  • In my experience WMR tracking is best with reading a book level indoor lighting, even and with no light source going direct to the cameras. Sunlight can be especially problematic. However, Exigeous in another review thread in here said his tracking wasn't great with the Reverb either. I can't compare directly but I've got a Lenovo Explorer and Odyssey+, the tracking isn't flawless but reliably good on both.
Hope there's something helpful there. I'd be keen to know if you get things sorted, I'd been considering getting the knuckles with a WMR headset myself.

Edit: I've never had the WMR software crash.

Edit 2: Just to check do you have SteamVR AND Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR installed?

for your second edit: Yes I do and thanks for all the suggestions. I just decided to try Elite again and it's now just giving me a white screen when the game loads up. Sigh.

I had that the other day. It was another USB device and not the headset.
